Ukraine has stepped up long-range drone attacks on Russia, including across the Baltic. Since March, several \u200bUkrainian military drones have\u00a0strayed into the airspace\u00a0of NATO members Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, which all border Russia.<\/p>\n
The Latvian government\u00a0last week resigned\u00a0over its handling of the incursions.<\/p>\n
Drone shot down with a missile<\/h2>\n In Estonia, the drone entered the country\u2019s airspace at around noon (0900 GMT) on Tuesday, coming from Russia and into the southeastern a part of the country, \u200bthe Estonian military said in an announcement.<\/p>\n
It was shot down by a Romanian NATO fighter jet on a training flight at 12:14 p.m. (0914 GMT), \u200bwith a single missile.<\/p>\n

NATO confirmed a Romanian jet had shot down a drone over Estonian airspace and said an investigation was ongoing. It said NATO \u201cis prepared and in a position to react to any potential air threats\u201d.<\/p>\n
Cancelled trains, exams<\/h2>\n In Latvia, the air alert led to some scenes of panic within the border region with Russia, with trains suspended, national \u200bexams for ninth-grade school students stopped and \u200bgrocery shops closing down, according \u2060to local media reports.<\/p>\n
Estonia identified the drone shot down there as Ukrainian, but each Baltic states blamed the incidents on Moscow and said Ukraine had the proper to strike Russian military targets to weaken Moscow\u2019s ability to wage \u200bwar.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese incidents are the direct results of Russia\u2019s war and provocations. Estonia is strengthening cooperation with Ukraine \u200bto boost our air \u2060defence and counter-drone capabilities,\u201d Estonia\u2019s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said in a post on X.<\/p>\n
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said last week that Ukraine would send experts to Latvia to assist protect the country\u2019s skies.<\/p>\n
