The response said agreements with law enforcement agencies in other countries require confidentiality and due to this fact will not be released to the general public.<\/p>\n

It said the agreement with China outlines areas of collaboration, including the exchange of data, investigative assistance, the sharing of best practices specific to technical expertise and training, and co-ordination with other domestic law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n
The memorandum prescribes that each one co-operation is to be undertaken in accordance with the domestic laws, international conventions and the inner policies of every party, and is guided by the principles of sovereignty, equality and mutual profit, the response added.<\/p>\n
Information exchanges follow Canada\u2019s legal framework and the memorandum doesn’t create legally enforceable obligations, the response said.<\/p>\n
\u201cInformation sharing must abide by the Canadian legal framework and align with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police\u2019s mandate,\u201d Public Safety added.<\/p>\n
It also said mutual respect for sovereignty is a foundational principle of RCMP memorandums with foreign law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n
\u201cCountering foreign interference, including transnational repression, is a priority for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and this informs risk assessments around information sharing and co-operation with foreign entities,\u201d Public Safety said.<\/p>\n
The RCMP also has robust internal processes and mechanisms to make sure compliance with federal law on avoiding complicity in mistreatment by other countries, the department said.<\/p>\n
Caputo said Thursday that those answers were unsatisfactory.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Liberal government is now asking Canadians to just accept, without scrutiny, that information-sharing with the identical government poses no threat,\u201d he said in his statement. \u201cI feel that\u2019s unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n
