MOD representatives deplored the Russian Embassy for the pilots\u2019 dangerous behaviour (Picture: MOD)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThis week, representatives from the MoD and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office d\u00e9marched the Russian Embassy to sentence the pilots\u2019 actions.<\/p>\n
Defence Secretary John Healey MP said: \u2018This incident is one other example of dangerous and unacceptable behaviour by Russian pilots, towards an unarmed\u00a0aircraft\u00a0operating in international airspace. These actions create a serious risk of accidents and potential escalation.<\/p>\n
\u2018Let me be very clear: This incident is not going to deter the UK\u2019s commitment to defend Nato, our allies and our interests from Russian aggression.\u2019<\/p>\n
This incident was essentially the most dangerous Russian motion against a UK\u00a0Rivet\u00a0Joint\u00a0since 2022, when a Russian plane fired a missile over the Black Sea.<\/p>\n
This latest incident comes amid continued Russian aggression and heightened military activity in Eastern Europe and the High North.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, the Royal Navy announced it had been monitoring a Russian warship off the UK coast for a complete month.<\/p>\n
The frigate\u00a0Admiral\u00a0Grigorovich\u00a0was watched by patrol ships HMS Tyne, HMS Mersey and HMS Severn because it sailed to the west of the UK and thru the North Sea in April.<\/p>\n
The Russian ship also sailed near the Galloper wind farm off the\u00a0Suffolk\u00a0coast and stopped to tackle fuel and supplies near \u2018key national infrastructure\u2019 30km off the coast nearby.<\/p>\n
Patrol ships, tankers and Wildcat helicopters from the Royal Navy have been tracking the movements of the Admiral Grigorovich.<\/p>\n
