Stephen Colbert\u00a0<\/strong>is one among the largest names in comedy. He developed a cult following together with his popular series Strangers With Candy\u00a0<\/em>in 1999, but he became a household name when he was a correspondent on Comedy Central\u2019s The Each day Show<\/em>. He eventually went on to host his own satirical news show\u00a0The Colbert Report\u00a0<\/em>for nearly a decade and later became the host of The Late Show\u00a0<\/em>in 2015, which is ending in May 2026.<\/p>\n

Stephen has been married to his wife\u00a0Evelyn McGee\u00a0<\/strong>since 1993, they usually\u2019re proud parents to 3 adult children:\u00a0Madeleine<\/strong>,\u00a0Peter<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0John<\/strong>. All three kids have dabbled a bit within the entertainment industry. Stephen revealed some advice he gave his kids in a January 2023 episode<\/a> of his show. \u201cThe recommendation I\u2019ve given my kids just typically being in business is: be enthusiastic and competent,\u201d he said. Madeleine Carlisle<\/h2>\n

Stephen and Evelyn welcomed their eldest child and only daughter in 1995. The comedian was still working on his early profession when Madeleine was born. He had previously joked about cradling his daughter in audition tapes, per Rolling Stone<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Stephen had also revealed that he had Evelyn had hired\u00a0Jennifer Garner\u00a0<\/strong>to babysit for her early of their careers after each of the actors appeared on\u00a0Spin City.\u00a0<\/em>Stephen and Jennifer reminisced on when the actress used to babysit for his or her daughter in a 2017 appearance on\u00a0The Late Show<\/a>. <\/em>\u201cI just remember your gorgeous little girl,\u201d Jennifer told Stephen. \u201cShe was really smart. She was very verbal.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a teen, Madeleine did make an appearance on\u00a0The Each day Show\u00a0<\/em>in a 2004 episode because the \u201cOil Industry in Disguise,\u201d per\u00a0IMDb<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>She later worked as a makeup artist on\u00a0The Late Show\u00a0<\/em>in 2020.<\/p>\n

While her dad has at all times had a knack for making the news funny, his love of current events clearly inspired his daughter. Madeleine, who now goes by Madeleine Carlisle,\u00a0<\/strong>is a working journalist. She had previously written for each\u00a0The Atlantic\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Time,\u00a0<\/em>in response to her Twitter<\/a> bio, and he or she\u2019s now an associate producer at\u00a060 Minutes<\/em>, via LinkedIn<\/a>, sharing the CBS network along with her dad.<\/p>\n

Peter Colbert<\/h2>\n

Evelyn gave birth to her and Stephen\u2019s second child Peter in 1998. The center Colbert child has mostly stayed out of the highlight, but he has dipped his feet into the entertainment industry. Given what a giant fan of the\u00a0Lord of the Rings\u00a0<\/em>series his father is, it\u2019s no surprise that the comedian appeared to pass on a few of that like to his children, and Peter had a small acting role alongside his dad as a Laketown spy in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug\u00a0<\/em>in 2013. He\u2019s also acting in an upcoming short, called\u00a0The Virgin,\u00a0<\/em>per\u00a0IMDb<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>Apart from acting, Peter does have some credits behind the camera. He directed the 2018 short\u00a0At The Crossroads Down Yonder,<\/em> which he also wrote, and an episode of the 2019 TV series\u00a0Where\u2019s Noah? , <\/em>which he also executive produced 4 episodes of. He was also listed as a cinematographer on a 2020 episode of\u00a0The Late Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n

John Colbert<\/h2>\n

Stephen and Evelyn welcomed their youngest child, John, in 2002. Like his older siblings, John has also dabbled a bit in entertainment. Like his brother and father, he also made an appearance in The Hobbit\u00a0<\/em>series as a Laketown spy. Apart from The Hobbit\u00a0<\/em>cameo, he appeared in 4 shorts in 2019:\u00a0Egg Evan, Real Detective, The Sockpocalypse,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Cardboard By Your<\/em> Name<\/em>, per IMDb<\/a><\/em>. Apart from his acting, he has also worked as a grip within the camera department on the 2022 short Carmonizer<\/em><\/p>\n
