Donald Trump announced the dispatch of 1000’s of additional soldiers to Poland weeks after his sudden decision to drag troops from Germany. <\/p>\n

In an apparent U-turn, the US president has caused further confusion amongst his NATO allies after he announced the plan on Truth Social.<\/p>\n

He said in a Truth Social post last night that Poland would now receive 5,000 extra troops after the election victory of the conservative president, Karol Nawrocki. <\/p>\n

Trump said: \u2018Based on the successful Election of the now President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, who I used to be proud to Endorse, and our relationship with him, I’m pleased to announce that america will probably be sending an extra 5,000 Troops to Poland.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Currently, Poland hosts around 10,000 US armed forces, with a give attention to the country\u2019s eastern areas bordering Ukraine and Belarus, a key Russian ally.<\/p>\n

Poland can also be a key NATO player, with fighter jets recurrently alerted to Russian airspace incursions within the region. <\/p>\n

Nawrocki responded to Trump\u2019s plan on X: \u2018Good alliances are those based \u2060on cooperation, mutual respect, and a commitment \u200bto our shared security.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trump revealed in early May that 5,000 US troops would go away Germany following Chancellor Friedrich Merz\u2019s refusal to support the Iran war. <\/p>\n

Merz claimed that the US had been humiliated within the Iran war negotiations, sparking a ranting response from Trump.<\/p>\n

The POTUS told Merz to \u2018fix his broken country\u2019 and accused him of tolerating a nuclear-armed Iran. <\/p>\n

He wrote on Truth Social: \u2018The Chancellor of\u00a0Germany\u00a0should spend more time on ending the war with Russia\/Ukraine (Where he has been totally ineffective!)\u2019 <\/p>\n

Before the heated exchange, European countries had faced months of criticism from the US, accusing them of relying an excessive amount of on the Americans for security. <\/p>\n

The US and Germany share a protracted history of military cooperation because the Cold War, which saw the height of American troops in West Germany. <\/p>\n

For the time being, Germany hosts around 36,000 American troops in response to the most recent government figures, with the largest bases situated near Ramstein and Stuttgart. <\/p>\n

As compared, the UK hosts 10,156 US troops across three bases.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s increasing hostility towards NATO, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the Iran war have led to soul-searching throughout the military alliance.<\/p>\n

But Trump\u2019s anger can also be said to have brought the nations closer together, with leaders discussing in private what to do if the US president followed through along with his threats to depart the alliance. <\/p>\n
