\n\tPresident Donald Trump\u2018s wrath toward late-night comedian who relentlessly mock him isn’t any secret. So it was no surprise that Trump seized the chance to get a dig in at Stephen Colbert after the host signed off from CBS\u2019s \u201cThe Late Show\u201d for the last time Thursday. <\/p>\n
\n\tIn a post at 1:52 a.m. ET, the U.S. president wrote on his Truth Social account, \u201cColbert is finally finished at CBS. Amazing that he lasted so long! No talent, no rankings, no life. He was like a dead person. You possibly can take any person off of the road and they might be higher than this total jerk. Thank goodness he\u2019s finally gone!\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tAfter CBS announced last summer that it was canceling \u201cThe Late Show,\u201d Trump gloated that \u201cI absolutely love that Colbert got fired.\u201d\u00a0A number of days in a while the show, Colbert fired back \u2014\u00a0telling the president, \u201cGo fuck yourself\u201d\u00a0(with the f-bomb bleeped out on the CBS telecast).<\/p>\n
\n\tColbert\u2019s final show on May 21 featured a roster of celebrity and musical guests, including Paul McCartney, who shut down the facility to the Ed Sullivan Theater in a prerecorded bit to bring the curtain down on the show after 11 seasons.<\/p>\n
\n\tOthers who appeared on \u201cThe Late Show\u201d send-off included Bryan Cranston, Paul Rudd, Ryan Reynolds, Tim Meadows and Tig Notaro.<\/p>\n
\n\tCBS insisted the cancellation of \u201cThe Late Show\u201d\u00a0was \u201cpurely a financial decision\u201d coming after a\u00a0years-long decline within the economics of late-night TV. But many observers and fans consider Colbert was axed because Donald Trump didn\u2019t like being the goal of the host\u2019s jokes. Trump had called for CBS to drag the plug early on \u201cThe Late Show\u201d last December, calling Colbert \u201ca pathetic trainwreck, with no talent or anything obligatory for show business success.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tLast fall Colbert had addressed the query of whether CBS canceled his show\u00a0was politically motivated, saying that was \u201can inexpensive thing to think\u201d but that it wouldn\u2019t be \u201cfruitful\u201d for him \u201cto interact in that speculation.\u201d Outside the Ed Sullivan Theater on Thursday, several Colbert fans told Variety<\/em> that they believed CBS did in actual fact kill the show for political reasons. <\/p>\n \n\tTrump also has raged against Jimmy Kimmel, calling on Disney and ABC to fireplace him after Kimmel\u2019s joke concerning the First Lady.
