The US Embassy within the Philippines encouraged more students to explore higher education opportunities in America, following a 50% increase within the Filipino student population within the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe US is admittedly a frontrunner in each quality and revolutionary education, and the doors are very much open for Filipino students,\u201d Jessica Simon, counselor for public affairs of the US Embassy within the Philippines, told reporters on Friday on the sidelines of an event.<\/p>\n
In response to the Open Doors 2024 Report on International Educational Exchange, the variety of Filipino students enrolled in US universities and colleges increased from 3,000 to 4,500 over the past decade.<\/p>\n
Science, technology, education, and arithmetic are amongst the favored programs pursued by Filipinos, driven by the worldwide rise in demand for artificial intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re hoping the number just goes one direction, and that\u2019s up,\u201d Ms. Simon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the increasing awareness of the importance of artificial intelligence, and the roles which are going to be created in artificial intelligence fields, that\u2019s definitely an interest,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The US Embassy official also noted that global economic uncertainties and challenges do indirectly affect learners\u2019 interest in studying abroad.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know that we\u2019ve seen a direct effect on the demand for student visas,\u201d she said. \u201cI believe any form of uncertainty, economic uncertainty, global uncertainty, causes just general uncertainty.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also assured that there could be no tighter regulations on student visa applications for the Philippines, following the US government\u2019s expansion of its travel ban to 39 countries in January. \u201cThere are not any restrictions; now we have student visa appointments open.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe very much welcome Filipino and international students in the USA, and that\u2019s why we\u2019re holding the EducationUSA Fair today,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
The EducationUSA University Fair Spring 2026, happening in Quezon City and Davao City, connects Filipino students with 17 higher education institutions overseas.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe that is the first step in pursuing an education exchange experience,\u201d Ms. Simon said. \u201cEven when it\u2019s to not depart next month, next yr on an exchange, the scholars here today can really profit from taking this 1st step and getting this initial information.\u201d<\/p>\n
Arizona State University, College of Central Florida, Lewis University, Manhattan University, Middle Tennessee State University, and the University of San Francisco are amongst the colleges on the fair.<\/p>\n
