The U.S. Secret Service is responding to reports of two people being shot near the White House lower than one month after the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner shooting.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re aware of reports of shots fired near seventeenth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW and are working to corroborate the data with personnel on the bottom. Additional information might be provided because it becomes available,\u201d the Secret Service tweeted<\/a> on Saturday, May 23.<\/p>\n

A Secret Service spokesperson told Us Weekly<\/em> that the agency was \u201cgathering information and could have more on this incident shortly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFBI is on the scene and supporting Secret Service responding to shots fired near White House grounds \u2013 we are going to update the general public as we\u2019re able,\u201d FBI Director Kash Patel<\/strong> tweeted<\/a> shortly after the incident.<\/p>\n

CNN<\/a> reported that reporters on the bottom heard gunfire coming from the corner of seventeenth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest in Washington, D.C., with speculation that the gunfire can have emanated from the Eisenhower Executive Office Constructing side of the White House.<\/p>\n

ABC News White House correspondent Selina Wang<\/strong> shared video<\/a> of her live report from the premises being interrupted by what seemed to be loud sounds of gunfire. She ducked for canopy before the video footage cut off.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to be in the midst of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn after we heard the shots,\u201d Yang, 33, tweeted. \u201cIt gave the impression of dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we’re holding now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reporters were reportedly told to shelter in place while locked down within the White House press briefing room.<\/p>\n
