Spencer Pratt<\/strong> released a fiery response to questions over his political loyalties ahead of the Los Angeles mayoral election primary.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone seems to be trying to assert me for his or her tribe. There\u2019s no R next to my name, there\u2019s no D next to my name,\u201d Pratt, 42, insisted via X<\/a> on Saturday, May 23. \u201cI\u2019m not a part of a political party, because I hate politicians. I\u2019m just Spencer, husband to Heidi<\/strong> [Montag<\/strong>], father to Ryker and Gunner, and I\u2019m a pissed off Angeleno who loves my city and is fed up with what corrupt politicians have done to her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt has been registered as a Republican<\/a>\u00a0since 2020 but is technically running for Los Angeles mayor as an independent community advocate.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Pratt was asked by CNN\u2019s Elex Michaelson<\/strong> why he has aligned with the GOP lately.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter I was a hated reality star, I got so many death threats. I had a lot security and police and what did they tell me to do? Get a gun,\u201d he answered. \u201cL.A. was dangerous so I got a gun. My wife needed a gun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt explained that he needed a Concealed Carry Weapon license to own a gun and that \u201cthe one those that supported [those licenses] was the Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was what I aligned with. My safety, my family\u2019s personal safety,\u201d he insisted. \u201cI do know people don\u2019t like guns but when persons are threatening your life and your individual security tells you you should have home protection. \u2026 Once you’re feeling fear and it\u2019s real, you would like to protect your loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n

His two primary mayoral election opponents \u2014 L.A. Mayor Karen Bass<\/strong> and City Councilwoman Nithya Raman<\/strong> \u2014 have repeatedly described Pratt as a \u201cMAGA Republican\u201d in campaign attack ads.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump also counted Pratt amongst his supporters during a recent press conference on the White House.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d prefer to see him do well. He\u2019s a personality,\u201d Trump, 79, told reporters on May 20. \u201cI assume he probably supports me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president added, \u201cI heard he\u2019s a giant MAGA person. He\u2019s doing well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSpencer Pratt has fired back at criticism of a brand new attack ad in his Los Angeles mayoral campaign. On Wednesday, April 29, the previous Hills star released a campaign ad filmed outside the homes of two of his opponents within the upcoming mayoral primary: current Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman. Pratt has received public backing from quite a few notable celebrities, including Meghan McCain<\/strong>, Erika Kirk<\/strong>, Kristin Cavallari<\/strong> and Jax Taylor<\/strong>, amongst others. He has also faced criticism for his inexperience within the political arena, with The<\/em> Price Is Right<\/em> host Drew Carey<\/strong> recently suggesting Pratt isn’t qualified for office.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who votes for, or endorses Spencer Prattfall for Mayor of LA must get their head out of their ass,\u201d Carey, 68, wrote via Thread<\/a>s on Friday, May 22. \u201cI understand being indignant\/unsatisfied, but no less than get behind someone competent and never some serial scammer and not using a soul or moral compass.\u201d<\/p>\n
