Nicolas Cage<\/strong>, who has one of the diverse filmographies in Hollywood, shared which big-name directors stopped calling him after he rejected roles that were offered to him. While discussing his upcoming movie, \u201cMadden,\u201d the actor commended director David O. Russell for having class, despite having turned him down once before.<\/p>\n Cage is thought to have passed on some big roles, as an alternative selecting to work on projects he\u2019s captivated with. The actor admitted to cultivating a mysterious mythology about his persona previously, but now lives an \u201cextraordinarily boring\u201d life.<\/p>\n In an interview with The Latest York Times<\/a><\/em>, Nicolas Cage discussed his upcoming projects, past roles, and his Hollywood persona. At one point, he was asked about portraying football coach John Madden within the upcoming biographical movie \u201cMadden,\u201d directed by David O. Russell.<\/p>\n The actor explained that he didn\u2019t know much in regards to the legendary NFL coach, but said Russell approached him for the role. Cage mentioned that years before, the director offered him a movie, but he turned it down. \u201cHe\u2019s the one director that I ever said no to who actually got here back and offered me one other movie,\u201d the actor said.<\/p>\n He candidly shared that some directors \u201cget their feelings hurt\u201d and don\u2019t call back, adding that it\u2019s happened to him \u201c1,000,000 times.\u201d<\/p>\n Cage mentioned some names, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s happened with Christopher Nolan, it\u2019s happened with Woody Allen, it\u2019s happened with Paul Thomas Anderson. They don\u2019t call me back.\u201d<\/p>\n Cage said Nolan offered him a task within the 2002 psychological thriller \u201cInsomnia,\u201d which focused on two homicide detectives investigating a case in Alaska. It featured big-name stars, including Al Pacino, Robin Williams, and Hilary Swank.<\/p>\n The actor didn\u2019t mention which movies he declined from Anderson and Allen, but said they were \u201cearly movies.\u201d <\/p>\n Cage didn\u2019t go into much detail in regards to the roles he rejected from the administrators he mentioned. As a substitute, he praised Russell for approaching him for \u201cMadden\u201d despite turning him down years before.<\/p>\n \u201cDavid did call me, and it showed plenty of class that he would call me back and invite me again, and I didn\u2019t need to say no to him again because I actually have great respect for his talent,\u201d Cage explained. In keeping with reports, the actor was tapped to play Aragorn<\/a> in \u201cThe Lord of the Rings\u201d movies, but he refused, citing that he didn\u2019t need to spend a lot time away from his family.
