National Hockey League after\u00a0Montreal\u00a0Canadiens fans within the Gatineau region were banned from hosting a watch party at a neighborhood arena.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers of the cancelled event said the NHL told them they weren&#8217;t allowed to proceed with their party last Saturday on the 4000-seat Slush Puppie Centre since it is positioned inside a territory where the Ottawa Senators have exclusive marketing rights.<\/p>\n<p>The organizers say in addition they spoke to the Senators who refused to assist them organize a Habs party at an arena that&#8217;s about 35 kilometres away from the Ottawa team\u2019s home on the Canadian Tire Centre.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad\">\n<p>Story continues below commercial<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Transport Minister Steve MacKinnon, who represents the Gatineau riding, told journalists this morning that the move was a serious mistake.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup\" data-newsletter-inline=\"\">\n<div on the NHL to reconsider its decision and permit those in Gatineau and the Outaouais region to host such parties.<\/p>\n<p>The NHL didn&#8217;t immediately reply to a request for
