The Chicago Blackhawks needs to be open to trading any of their draft picks over the following two years<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Pierre LeBrun reported last week that the Blackhawks are open to trading the fourth overall pick, and adds they\u2019d likely be open to trading any of their draft picks over the following two drafts. Moving the No. 4 pick would obviously cost someone rather a lot, someone who’s of their prime that an contribute for a few years.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t expect much info out of the Blackhawks, Connor Bedard<\/a> contract talks.<\/p>\n

Jonas Siegel of The Athletic<\/a><\/strong>: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies<\/a> has reportedly been a component of trade talks for years, dating back to 2022 when a take care of the Chicago Blackhawks was discussed. It involved Brandon Hagel<\/a> and Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a>. Two years ago, he was brought up within the Mikko Rantanen<\/a> talks. At this past deadline, the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres were among the many teams that inquired.<\/p>\n

The Pros and Cons of Trading Knies.<\/p>\n

Still only 23 years old, and having a younger group with Easton Cowan<\/a> and perhaps Gavin McKenna to enhance Auston Matthews<\/a> and William Nylander<\/a>. Played through a knee injury and didn\u2019t get as many high-danger possibilities, and a lower shooting percentage. A profession high in points with 66 and time on ice. He\u2019s a top-six winger who can throw some hits. Five years left at $7.75 may very well be a bargain<\/p>\n

His trade value could also be greater than Matthews and Nylander given their no-movement clauses. He might have the option to net the Leafs a top-notch defenseman or a centerman. If the Leafs could land Darren Raddysh<\/a> or Rasmus Andersson<\/a>, then it could be more reason to maintain Knies.<\/p>\n

It is probably not smart to supply Knies for 36-year-old Romas Josi every time the Nashville Predators get a GM. Someone like Zach Werenski<\/a> would make more sense, if the Columbus Blue Jackets didn\u2019t think Werenski would extend past his two years.<\/p>\n

What about Latest Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier<\/a>, who has a 12 months left? Would want an extension in place, but he\u2019d be an ideal second-line center.<\/p>\n

If the Leafs could land an elite defenseman like Werenski, then they need to do it. Trading for futures isn\u2019t a part of retool.<\/p>\n
