Queer Eye<\/em>\u2019s Karamo Brown<\/strong> has opened up a few botched cosmetic surgery experience that left him in chronic pain.<\/p>\n

Brown, 45, told People<\/em><\/a> in an article published on Tuesday, June 2, that a 2021 buccal fat removal procedure caused scar tissue to dam saliva in his cheeks from draining.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor years, people have been, like, \u2018Karamo\u2019s had cosmetic surgery. He has a lot filler in his face,\u2019\u201d the fact TV star told the outlet. \u201cI used to be like, \u2018You understand what? I can\u2019t say anything because you may\u2019t get into fights with the trolls.\u2019 But I used to be suffering for years in pain and nobody knew.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown detailed that after salvia built up inside each of his cheeks, scar tissue would harden. \u201cThere\u2019d be times you\u2019d see me smile, and it was tight,\u201d he said. \u201cMy cheeks could be big because they were stuffed with saliva, stuffed with scar tissue. I used to be within the worst pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown, who joined Netflix\u2019s reboot of Queer Eye<\/em> in 2018, also told the outlet that he signed up for the procedure after \u201cgaining about 70 kilos through the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

He recalled of the time, \u201cI used to be an enormous boy, and everybody online liked to inform me how much of an enormous boy I used to be. So, I used to be like, \u2018OK, possibly if I slim out my face, I\u2019ll be cute.\u2019 It became a year-and-a-half of pain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The previous MTV Real World<\/em> solid member added that the pain he experienced intensified after the premiere of his daytime talk show, The Karamo Show<\/em>, in 2022. (It was cancelled in March after 4 seasons.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI might shoot six episodes a day, and there\u2019d be times once I was filming my show that my mouth would get so dry and it might be so swollen,\u201d he told the outlet before confirming that he lost 70 kilos in an try to mask the scar tissue\u2019s bulge. \u201cThe more weight I lost, the less scar tissue you might see,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe scar tissue and the saliva were still there, but because I used to be skinnier, it looked type of normal. I ended eating since it helped the sensation of not having a lot scar tissue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown, 45, exposed the solid\u2019s infighting just hours before the January 21 finale of their beloved Netflix series, saying he wouldn’t be joining Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness and Jeremiah Brent for [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In recent months, Brown \u201cunderwent a procedure to repair his saliva glands\u201d which removed scar tissue in his cheeks.<\/p>\n

Brown has had a rocky 2025 in other ways, too. In February, his ex Carlos Medel<\/strong> confirmed his split from Brown via an Instagram post. \u201cAlthough this 12 months I\u2019m single, I still wish to be sure love is around! All my like to my family and friends, thanks for being a part of my life yet another 12 months!\u201d Medel wrote after embarking on a romance with Brown in 2021.<\/p>\n
