Spencer Pratt<\/strong> looks prone to advance to a November runoff in his bid to be Los Angeles\u2019 recent mayor after his controversial campaign.<\/p>\n

The Hills<\/em> alum, 42, competed against incumbent Karen Bass<\/strong> and a slew of others when Los Angeles voters hit the polls on Tuesday, June 2. Under California primary rules, Bass needed greater than 50 percent of the first vote to win outright \u2014 a threshold she didn’t meet.<\/p>\n

The race can be prolonged to November as the highest two candidates within the race square off again in a general election showdown.<\/p>\n

Pratt announced his candidacy in January on the primary anniversary of the 2025 Palisades Fire, which destroyed his and wife Heidi Montag\u2019s<\/strong> home.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe system in Los Angeles isn\u2019t struggling, it\u2019s fundamentally broken,\u201d he said on the time. \u201cIt’s a machine designed to guard the people at the highest and the chums they exchange favors with while the remainder of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I\u2019m done waiting for somebody to take real motion.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThat\u2019s why I’m running for mayor. And let me be clear, this just isn\u2019t a campaign, this can be a mission, and we\u2019re gonna expose the system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Did Spencer Pratt Win His L.A. Mayoral Bid?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Not yet. While Bass didn’t secure the 50 percent vote threshold needed to win the mayoral race outright on June 2, she got here away because the overwhelming favorite with around 35 percent of the vote, per LA Vote<\/a>. This strong show guarantees that Bass will move on to November\u2019s runoff election.<\/p>\n

As for her opponent, Pratt seems the likeliest to advance to November by securing around 30 percent of the first vote. LA City Councilwoman Nithya Raman<\/strong> trailed in third place with around 23 percent.<\/p>\n

The race has yet to be officially called as of publication \u2014 resulting from a big tranche of absentee ballots yet to be counted \u2014 though Pratt has expressed certainty that he’ll tackle Mayor Bass within the runoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, obviously God wanted five more months of me exposing all of the failures of our mayor, so it\u2019s going to be a fun ride. I hope she\u2019s ready,\u201d Pratt told reporters on June 3.<\/p>\n

What Has Spencer Pratt Said About His Mayoral Run?<\/h2>\n

In May, Pratt exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> that his \u201cbest-case scenario\u201d can be helping \u201cnot less than 10,000 people to get 70 percent of what they got taken from them\u201d throughout the devastating fires.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ending that I hope for is justice for the people of Los Angeles,\u201d he elaborated. \u201cWinning the mayor\u2019s race can be a victory for truth and transparency, which is what I\u2019ve been fighting for this whole yr. The tip goal is identical: to shine a lightweight into the darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later that month, Spencer brushed off criticism of his candidacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t really matter who\u2019s behind me,\u201d he exclusively told Us<\/em> in May, revealing that Montag, 39, has been an unwavering support as he pursued his political aspirations. \u201cThat is my destiny.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his previous vow to depart Los Angeles if he lost the mayoral race, Spencer reiterated, \u201cI\u2019m not doing this to lose, I\u2019m doing this to win and save the town. My point [was], if I don\u2019t win, L.A. is finished, and it\u2019s not going to be livable. It\u2019s going to be out of a dystopian nightmare movie.\u201d<\/p>\n
