Hollywood is mourning the lack of Anthony Head<\/strong>. Following news that the beloved \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d and \u201cTed Lasso\u201d actor died at age 72, an outpouring of tributes quickly flooded social media, with former co-stars and friends reflecting on the impact he had each on and off screen.<\/p>\n Anthony Head\u2019s death comes just six months after the lack of his longtime partner, animal therapist and animal rights advocate Sarah Fisher, who died of thyroid cancer at age 61.<\/p>\n Among the many first to publicly react was Head\u2019s former \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d co-star David Boreanaz, who played vampire-turned-hero Angel on the long-lasting supernatural series.<\/p>\n \t\t<\/p>\n Boreanaz shared a photograph of Head on social media and paid tribute to his late castmate with a heartfelt message. \u201cRIP, he was so kind and generous of a soul,\u201d the actor wrote.<\/p>\n Head famously portrayed Rupert Giles, the beloved librarian and mentor to Sarah Michelle Gellar\u2019s Buffy Summers, throughout the show\u2019s seven-season run from 1997 to 2003. The role helped cement Head as a fan favorite in the USA after first finding fame in the UK.<\/p>\n Additional \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d forged members also shared emotional tributes to Head, remembering him not only as a talented actor but as a deeply kind presence behind the scenes. James Marsters, who portrayed fan-favorite vampire Spike, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram while reflecting on Head\u2019s lasting impact.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a hole within the World. Anthony Head has passed on from us,\u201d Marsters wrote. \u201cHe was an unflaggingly kind and regular presence on the set of \u2018Buffy,\u2019 and the very best actor within the forged. He was the very best of us.\u201d<\/p>\n The actor went on to reflect on the teachings he learned from Head during their years working together. \u201cI used to be lucky to have known, and learned from him,\u201d Marsters continued. \u201cHe left the world a greater place for his presence. Thanks Tony for all you gave.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Emma Caulfield, who portrayed fan-favorite demon-turned-human Anya Jenkins, shared a deeply personal memory alongside a photograph of the late actor. \u201cThis was taken on the London Underground in 2011. I went to go to my friend Tony on the set of \u2018The Iron Lady,\u2019\u201d Caulfield wrote. \u201cWe had lunch, hit up a record store, had dinner and drinks and laughed until our sides hurt. It was an ideal day.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cThere have been a lot of these moments with this amazing human who I used to be lucky enough to call my friend for 27 years. He was kind and smart and a guide in troubled times. You were so loved. Unimaginable to caption. You might be so missed. rest in peace along with your beautiful Sarah-Emma.\u201d<\/p>\n Actor and comedian Matt Lucas also honored Head, remembering the late actor\u2019s warmth and generosity during their time working together on \u201cLittle Britain.\u201d \u201cI’m very sad indeed to learn of the passing of Tony Head,\u201d Lucas wrote. \u201cAfter we were casting \u2018Little Britain,\u2019 we were on the lookout for a \u2018Tony Head-type,\u2019 because we never imagined for a moment that the person himself would have an interest, but he was. Lucky us.\u201d<\/p>\n Lucas went on to praise Head\u2019s character behind the scenes. \u201cHe was unfailingly good, and at all times so kind and warm,\u201d he added. \u201cMy heart goes out to Daisy and Emily.\u201d<\/p>\n Head portrayed the Prime Minister in Little Britain, starring opposite David Walliams\u2019 hopelessly devoted assistant Sebastian.<\/p>\n Head\u2019s \u201cTed Lasso\u201d co-star Brett Goldstein also paid tribute to the actor, reflecting on the contrast between Head\u2019s villainous on-screen persona and his real-life personality. Goldstein, who played fan-favorite Roy Kent on the Apple TV+ hit, praised Head for bringing complexity to the role of Rupert Mannion.<\/p>\n \u201cAnthony Head was a superb actor who played the worst person on this planet, which was an incredible skill because he was the very best person,\u201d Goldstein wrote. \u201cInfinitely charming and sort and fun and a joy,\u201d he continued. \u201cHe shall be sorely missed. Like to his family.\u201d<\/p>\n Head most recently appeared in \u201cTed Lasso\u201d because the manipulative Rupert Mannion, the previous owner of AFC Richmond and ex-husband to Hannah Waddingham\u2019s Rebecca Welton.<\/p>\n Head died \u201cpeacefully of complications attributable to pneumonia,\u201d based on an announcement shared Friday by his daughters, actresses Emily Head and Daisy Head. \u201cIt’s with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our extraordinary father, Anthony Head,\u201d the sisters said.<\/p>\n The emotional statement continued, \u201cWe understand how dearly he shall be missed by friends, colleagues, and fans of the shows he was in. He loved his job very much, and he at all times considered himself incredibly lucky to have been capable of work alongside such exceptionally talented people, in such wonderful productions, across a profession that spanned several many years.\u201d<\/p>\n The family also requested privacy as they navigate the heartbreaking loss.
