Earlier within the day, Bollywood Hungama<\/strong> revealed that Sunny Deol\u2019s much awaited film, Lahore 1947<\/em>, has been renamed as Batwara<\/em>. We’ve now learned that the rights to the title rested with the family of late producer Salim Akhtar and Aamir Khan secured its rights from them.<\/p>\n EXCLUSIVE: How Lahore 1947 became Batwara \u2013 Aamir Khan\u2019s personal meeting with Salim Akhtar\u2019s family sealed the deal<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n A source told Bollywood Hungama<\/strong>, \u201cThe team of the film was clear that they didn\u2019t need to name the film Lahore 1947<\/em>. They locked Batwara 1947<\/em> at first. But then all of them got here to the conclusion that the film must be titled simply as Batwara<\/em>. Nevertheless, removing 1947<\/em> and easily retaining Batwara<\/em> would mean securing the title rights.\u201d<\/p>\n The source continued, \u201cThe team learned that Salim Akhtar\u2019s family had the rights to the title for the reason that producer had made Batwara<\/em> (1989). Veteran filmmaker Karim Morani helped in arranging the meeting between Aamir Khan and Salim Akhtar\u2019s son Samad. In reality, Aamir went to Samad\u2019s house and even met his mother and Salim saab\u2019s wife, Shama.\u201d<\/p>\n The source further said, \u201cThe meeting was very fruitful. Aamir told the family about his wonderful experience of working with Salim Akhtar in Baazi<\/em> (1995). He also informed them about his film and the way the title Batwara<\/em> is apt for the topic. The Akhtar family understood his viewpoint and thus, they sold the rights for a certain quantity to Aamir.\u201d<\/p>\n Interestingly, on March 8, Samad Akhtar uploaded an image of himself posing with Aamir Khan. Within the caption, he mentioned that the superstar visited his house and that the latter amazed him with deep passion and knowledge about cricket. Samad even presented him with a jersey of his sports shop, 7S Sports World.<\/p>\n The 1989 film Batwara<\/em> was directed by J P Dutta of Border<\/em> (1997) and Refugee<\/em> (2000) fame and starred Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Dimple Kapadia, Amrita Singh, Poonam Dhillon, Mohsin Khan, Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh.<\/p>\n As for Aamir Khan\u2019s Batwara<\/em>, the partition saga reunites Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi.
