Former Disney Channel star Jake Short<\/b><\/span> <\/b>is further clarifying his controversial comments about now-ex Mika Abdalla<\/b>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a disrespectful, juvenile joke in a clip that recirculated this week,\u201d Short, 29, wrote in an announcement shared via his Instagram Stories on early Saturday, June 6, \u201cIt\u2019s imperative to me that I take accountability as I’m aware that it was inappropriate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly after Us Weekly <\/i>broke the news earlier this month that Short and the Off Campus <\/i>star, 26, ended their engagement, a 2024 clip of the then-pair on Short\u2019s \u201cThe Sit and Chat\u201d podcast resurfaced online. Fans thought Short appeared to disparage Abdalla within the footage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not representative of who I’m or who I used to be in my relationship,\u201d Short stressed on Saturday of the now-viral remarks. \u201cI proceed to learn from this case and work to indicate people the respect they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hours earlier, Abdalla and Short issued an exclusive statement to Us<\/i><\/span> <\/i>regarding the podcast comments in query.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a conversation around clips of us together once we were in a relationship, and other people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic,\u201d the exes told Us. <\/i>\u201cWe were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years [and] it\u2019s hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that doesn’t reflect the respect and love we had and still have for one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us <\/i>confirmed on Monday, June 1, that Abdalla and Short split<\/span> after five years together.<\/p>\n
