Matchroom chairman says Dana White\u2019s promotion has not yet done enough to justify the praise following its first UK event<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eddie Hearn has pushed back against the praise surrounding Zuffa Boxing\u2019s first UK event in Bournemouth. The Matchroom chairman questioned the response to Dana White\u2019s promotion and argued that one successful night is just not enough to evaluate its long-term impact on boxing.<\/p>\n

While many fans praised Chris Billam-Smith\u2019s stoppage win over Ryan Rozicki and Cheavon Clarke\u2019s victory over Jack Massey because the standout fights of the evening, Hearn suggested the general card didn\u2019t justify a number of the hype surrounding Zuffa Boxing\u2019s arrival in Britain.<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard Chev Clarke won. Billam-Smith, the guy [Rozicki] retired on his stool. Was it a good fight?\u201d said Hearn to iFL TV.\u00a0\u201cBen Shalom shows are one other level to Zuffa.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn boxing, they don\u2019t know what they\u2019re talking about. They’ve absolutely no clue concerning the sport, but they\u2019re powerful, and so they come around,\u201d said Hearn.<\/p>\n

Hearn was responding after being told concerning the comments White made during his post-fight press conference. The Matchroom chairman questioned whether one successful night was enough to support the claims being made about Zuffa Boxing\u2019s future in the game.<\/p>\n

The Bournemouth card produced two widely praised fights in Billam-Smith-Rozicki and Clarke-Massey, nevertheless it also featured several quick stoppages and one-sided contests that left some fans divided over the general quality of the event.<\/p>\n
