Robert Thomas will not be getting traded this offseason<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Andy Strickland<\/strong><\/a>: The St. Louis Blues usually are not trying to trade center Robert Thomas this offseason. Can end the trade rumors as he\u2019s expected to be on the Blues training camp in September.<\/p>\n

The Winnipeg Jets have been talking to Shane Doan<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press<\/strong><\/a>: The Winnipeg Jets are talking to Shane Doan a couple of position inside management. They’re still exploring the thought, but there’s a mutual interest.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been 15 seasons with Kevin Cheveldayoff as GM and Larry Simmons and Craig Heisinger as AGMs. Doan had been with the Maple Leafs for the past three seasons, but mutually parted ways after they hired John Chayka as GM. He did discuss with the Canucks before they brought in Ryan Johnson and the Sedin\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Newly named Nashville Predators GM on trade protection<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Alex Daugherty<\/strong><\/a>: Nashville Predators named a brand new GM this week, and Chris MacFarland was asked about trade protection and the way do cope with it in the event that they need to move someone.<\/p>\n

Daugherty: \u201cPlayers with trade protection, what\u2019s your sort of strategy on either handing out that trade protection, coping with it when you could have a dissatisfied player, that sort of thing?<\/p>\n

MacFarland: \u201cYeah, we had a, we’ve got a variety of guys in Colorado that had, whether it\u2019s a no-trade or a no move clause. I believe it\u2019s just it\u2019s a part of the CBA. It\u2019s when a player gets to, as you guys know, when he gets to be that age, that it becomes a part of the negotiation strategy from the players and the agents.<\/p>\n

And I believe you understand, for obvious reasons, in the event that they\u2019re committing to you, they need to know. They’ve families, they\u2019re human beings before everything, before they’re players, and it just becomes a part of it.<\/p>\n

I, you understand, I believe when there\u2019s only a method, if a player is unhappy or it\u2019s not working for reason A, B, or C, it\u2019s honesty. It\u2019s transparency. You’ve gotten to be honest with players, you could have to, you understand, be yourself. The players are smart, they see through, you understand, see all the way through, you understand, what I call nonsense, or in case you\u2019re being, you understand, you\u2019re not being true to yourself, variety of thing<\/p>\n

NHL Rumors: Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche<\/p>\n

They usually\u2019re not at all times easy situations, but, but, yeah, there\u2019s.. I don\u2019t think the no-trade protection, or the no-move protection, is, you understand, unique to Colorado or Nashville, that\u2019s needless to say.<\/p>\n
