Israel launched a wave of retaliatory missiles at Iran overnight, ignoring calls from Donald Trump to do the precise opposite. <\/p>\n

Iran and Israel traded strikes starting last Sunday in the primary blows since an April cease-fire paused the US and Israel\u2019s war within the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Following an Israeli attack against Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, in Dahiyya, Lebanon, Iran responded by launching ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n

Iranians celebrated the counter-strike in Qom and at Ferdowsi Square in Tehran until the early hours today. <\/p>\n

Footage <\/a>by Iran\u2019s semiofficial Mehr News Agency shows Iranians cheering, riding motorcycles, playing drums and waving flags.<\/p>\n

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, a robust arm of the Iranian military, said the missiles were a retaliation against Israel\u2019s continued bombing of Lebanon, despite the cease-fire.<\/p>\n

\u2018Tonight\u2019s operation was a warning, and if aggressions are repeated, the responses will likely be broader,\u2019 it added.<\/p>\n

A number of the drones fired at Israel carried the message, \u2018We won’t abandon Lebanon\u2019 and \u2018We’re fighting the corrupt people of Epstein Island\u2019, based on the Fars News Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Israel\u2019s military asked civilians to shelter before saying at around 11pm local time that it had intercepted the missiles.<\/p>\n

The tit-for-tat has carried on well into this morning, with the Israel Defense Force saying <\/a>that more missiles were fired from Iran a \u2018short while ago\u2019.<\/p>\n

Iranian military officials said\u00a0that Israel used air-launched ballistic missiles into the center of Iran. <\/p>\n

Amid a storm, explosions tore through Tehran in addition to in Tabriz and Isfahan, while Tasnim News Agency <\/a>reported blasts near Karaj and Mahshahr.<\/p>\n

US president Donald Trump is to call Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to induce him to rein in his attacks.<\/p>\n

\u2018I call the shots,\u2019 Trump said, based on The Financial Times<\/a>. \u2018He doesn\u2019t call the shots.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Iran war began in February when the US and Israel launched surprise attacks.<\/p>\n

Trump insisted in a pre-recorded interview broadcast yesterday that he never pledged not to start out latest wars if elected for a second term.<\/p>\n

He told NBC on Friday: \u2018I didn\u2019t guarantee no war. Why would I even have built the strongest military on the earth?\u2019<\/p>\n

As a 2024 candidate,\u00a0the Republican repeatedly said he wouldn’t drag the US into war.<\/p>\n

And he reminded the world of this during his victory speech<\/a>: \u2018They said, \u201cHe’ll start a war\u201d, I\u2019m not going to start out a war. I\u2019m going to stop wars.\u2019<\/p>\n
