The mother of a young girl who nearly died in a stabbing outside an Irish school has revealed how her daughter is doing after the attack.<\/p>\n

The kid, aged five on the time, was seriously injured together with one other young girl, a boy and a creche employee during a stabbing on Dublin\u2019s Parnell Square. <\/p>\n

Riad Bouchaker, 52, originally from Algeria, is accused of attempted murder of three children and other charges over the incident on November 23, 2023. <\/p>\n

He has denied the costs and claimed he was \u2018not in his right mind\u2019 on the time, the Irish Times<\/a> reports. <\/p>\n

The girl\u2019s mum was left in limbo over whether her daughter would survive the attack because the teen was rushed into surgery following significant blood loss. <\/p>\n

The mum\u2019s first query to the medics was \u2018is she dead?\u2019 after a life-saving operation. <\/p>\n

Her daughter, who has not been named for legal reasons, had suffered a wound to her heart and her brain was left without oxygen for around 40 minutes. <\/p>\n

The girl stayed within the ICU for 3 weeks and was under heavy sedation in order that doctors could understand the extent of harm to her brain.<\/p>\n

She has been required to relearn the whole lot over the course of her recovery, her family said previously. <\/p>\n

In the mean time, she is non-verbal and in a wheelchair, and learning to swallow again. <\/p>\n

She uses blinking to point yes or no, and she or he relies on medication to fall asleep. <\/p>\n

The lady told a Central Criminal Court jury how she received a tearful call from the creche owner where her daughter attended before school on the day of the stabbing. <\/p>\n

The owner told the mum, who worked nearby, \u2018Oh my God, oh my God, [\u2026] has been stabbed, you may have to come back\u2019 and that it happened in front of the college. <\/p>\n

She told the court: \u2018I finished respiration for a second but I kept running and I got there.\u2019 <\/p>\n

The mum could see her daughter\u2019s pink backpack and pink shoes near the college entrance because the emergency employees surrounded her. <\/p>\n

\u2018I finished and allow them to work because I couldn’t do anything for her at that moment,\u2019 she said. <\/p>\n

Her daughter had celebrated her fifth birthday on the time of the events. <\/p>\n

Bouchaker, of no fixed abode, is charged with attempted murder of two girls and one boy, and assault causing serious harm to a care employee, assaulting three people and producing a 36cm kitchen knife.<\/p>\n

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges through an interpreter. <\/p>\n

The trial continues. <\/p>\n
