The prime suspect within the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is reportedly not under 24.7 police surveillance.<\/p>\n

There are fears Christian Brueckner could disappear nine months after he was released from prison last September.<\/p>\n

The paedophile had been followed non-stop by officers since his freedom but a court ruled the police remark was not required.<\/p>\n

Brueckner will still wear an electronic ankle tagto monitor his location, but prosecutors say the tech has malfunctioned prior to now.<\/p>\n

A source told The Sun<\/a>: \u2018The fear has at all times been that as soon as Brueckner got the chance he would disappear.<\/p>\n

\u2018He may need been let loose of jail but he still hasn\u2019t had that because he has been monitored by\u00a0police<\/a>\u00a0all day daily.<\/p>\n

\u2018Once that surveillance stops who knows what is going to occur.<\/p>\n

\u2018He has a\u00a0history<\/a>\u00a0of leaving the country when he faces suspicion so there’s a really real danger he’ll disappear before the McCann case can ever get to court.\u2019<\/p>\n

German cops within the Schleswig-Holstein state are understood to have appealed the choice to not renew the surveillance order.<\/p>\n

Brueckner will remain under police remark until the court has made a final decision.<\/p>\n

Madeleine was three when she vanished from the\u00a0Portuguese\u00a0resort of Praia da Luz on the\u00a0Algarve\u00a0while on a break along with her siblings and oldsters.<\/p>\n

Prime suspect and convicted rapist\u00a0Brueckner\u00a0was released after serving a jail sentence in his native\u00a0Germany\u00a0last September.<\/p>\n

He had been serving a seven-year sentence for an unrelated sex crime. Along with his conviction for the rape of the lady within the Algarve, he also has convictions for child abuse and drug trafficking.<\/p>\n

State prosecutors in Germany have said there’s circumstantial evidence suggesting\u00a0Brueckner was involved in Maddie\u2019s disappearance, including three witnesses who said he had confessed to them.<\/p>\n

He lived within the Algarve between 1995 and 2007, with a period spent working as a pool maintenance assistant on the Praia da Luz resort, where the McCanns were staying when\u00a0their daughter vanished.<\/p>\n

But extensive searches for more direct evidence have ended without success.<\/p>\n

He has denied any involvement in her disappearance and has never been charged with any crimes in reference to Madeleine.<\/p>\n

In March, it was announced that more funding had been granted to proceed to research the disappearance.<\/p>\n
