Friday is the day circled on many Canadian soccer fans\u2019 calendars, because the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup gets underway \u2014 including Canada\u2019s first game just 90 minutes after.<\/p>\n

The matches of the 104-game tournament began Thursday, with Mexico playing South Africa and Korea playing Czechia in Mexico City. In total, Canada will host 13 games in Toronto and Vancouver.<\/p>\n

Toronto will host Canada\u2019s opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at Toronto Stadium, featuring performances by Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bubl\u00e9, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream and William Prince, amongst others.<\/p>\n

The gates are expected to open 4 hours prior to kickoff to allows spectators to benefit from the pre-game festivities.<\/p>\n

At 3 p.m., Canada is about to tackle Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium within the highly anticipated begin to the tournament for the Canadians.<\/p>\n
