{"id":350754,"date":"2026-06-14T15:40:38","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T10:10:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ebiztoday.news\/?p=350754"},"modified":"2026-06-14T15:40:38","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T10:10:38","slug":"vancouver-gets-its-turn-in-world-cup-highlight-as-australia-takes-on-turkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ebiztoday.news\/index.php\/2026\/06\/14\/vancouver-gets-its-turn-in-world-cup-highlight-as-australia-takes-on-turkey\/","title":{"rendered":"Vancouver gets its turn in World Cup highlight as Australia takes on Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p>Ramazan Kilic says he&#8217;ll get goosebumps when Turkey\u2019s national anthem rings through BC Place Stadium because the World Cup highlight falls on Vancouver today.<\/p>\n<p>After years of buildup, Turkey will play Australia within the first-ever World Cup game played in Vancouver and Kilic says tonight\u2019s game can be a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to observe the Turkish national team.<\/p>\n<p>Kilic says he watched Turkey play Canada in a friendly match in Toronto in June 1995, but tonight\u2019s game can be special due to World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>He says he&#8217;ll share this occasion along with his wife, his two children, his brother, his sister and his brother-in-law, together with 1000&#8217;s of other Turkish fans, who&#8217;ve come to Vancouver from across Canada and around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Kilic says his family has been preparing for tonight\u2019s game for the reason that morning, listening to music and dancing, before heading off to the sport.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-ad c-ad--bigbox l-article__ad c-ad--tallSticky\">\n<p>Story continues below commercial<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The soccer fan says he and his family can be travelling from Richmond, B.C., by SkyTrain to Vancouver, where they can be meeting up with an expected 2,000 fans in an area park before heading to the sport.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup\" data-newsletter-inline=\"\">\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup__image\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/wp-content\/themes\/shaw-globalnews\/images\/skyline\/national.jpg\" alt=\"Get daily Canada news delivered to your inbox so you'll never miss the day's top stories.\">\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"c-inlineSignup__content\">\n<h2 class=\"c-inlineSignup__title\">Get every day National news<\/h2>\n<p>Get every day Canada news delivered to your inbox so you will never miss the day&#8217;s top stories.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Kilic says he has heard that some 35,000 Turkish fans could show up for the sport, they usually, like he, expect Turkey to beat the Socceroos, because the Australian team is understood, with Kilic tipping on a 4-1.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight\u2019s game happens against the backdrop of dropping ticket prices, and Kilic says he got too excited when he bought his 4 tickets for a complete of $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>But he doesn&#8217;t appear to have any regrets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018You recognize what? It\u2019s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We&#8217;ll just go to game.\u2019 My kids love soccer. So, I said, \u2018why not?\u2019 So, we just bought it.
