An agreement got here together briefly order, which can allow the career-long Saint to play his sixteenth season with the franchise.

Already the Saints’ all-time leader in games played (243) and sacks (132), Jordan will construct on those numbers during his age-37 campaign. Jordan, who ranks seventeenth on the NFL’s official all-time sacks leaderboard, needs 6.5 to climb into the highest 10.

While youth shouldn’t be on Jordan’s side, he remained remarkably durable and productive in 2025. After taking a pay cut last spring, Jordan played his third straight 17-game season and hit double-digit sacks (10.5) for the primary time since 2021 and the seventh time in his profession. The eight-time Pro Bowler also added 47 tackles, 15 TFL, 15 quarterback hits and a pair of forced fumbles. Along together with his pass-rushing prowess, Jordan was an issue for opposing running backs. The 6-foot-4, 287-pounder ranked sixth amongst edge defenders in run stop win rate. Meanwhile, Pro Football Focus assigned Jordan the fourth-best grade against the run at his position.

Although Jordan showed he had plenty left within the tank last 12 months, there was little reported outside interest in him during his drawn-out trip to free agency. Nonetheless, Jordan suggested back in March that he was weighing opportunities to sign elsewhere. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, who selected Jordan twenty fourth overall in 2011, indicated in April that the final result of the draft could affect the veteran’s probabilities of staying with the organization. Loomis didn’t select an edge defender with any of his eight picks, though he did swing a trade with the Raiders for Tyree Wilson and sign ex-Patriot Anfernee Jennings.

A couple of weeks after acquiring Wilson, a 2023 first-rounder who has dissatisfied during his three-year profession, Loomis announced in May that he sent a proposal out to Jordan. When discussing the matter last week, second-year head coach Kellen Moore expressed hope Jordan would re-sign. Although the Saints would not have much financial wiggle room (just $8.13MM in space, per OverTheCap), Moore will now get his wish, giving him and defensive coordinator Brandon Staley a significant boost because the summer approaches. Jordan, Chase Young and Carl Granderson are returning because the Saints’ top edge defenders. Behind that trio, Recent Orleans will hope Wilson’s change of scenery will help him realize the potential he had when he entered the league because the seventh overall pick in his class.

Jordan’s decision to stay with the Saints will remove arguably the perfect edge presence left on the open market. Jadeveon Clowney, Von Miller, Joey Bosa, Leonard Floyd, Kyle Van Noy and Haason Reddick are among the many notables who’re still without contracts midway through June.

1:59pm: It appears Jordan will retire after 2026.
