Tom Holland<\/strong> is gearing up for the discharge of \u201cSpider-Man: Brand Latest Day,\u201d marking the fourth time he’ll appear as Peter Parker\u2019s alter ego in a solo film. The actor has weighed in on who should take over the role, mentioning an Emmy-winning actor as his potential alternative.<\/p>\n

Tom Holland was in his late teens when Marvel Studios forged him as Spider-Man, and at 30, he’s fascinated by potential actors who could take his place in the longer term.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Esquire<\/a><\/em>, Holland said Owen Cooper could be an \u201cawesome\u201d Spider-Man. \u201cObviously, he\u2019s super talented and the talk of the town straight away,\u201d the actor said.<\/p>\n

Cooper, a 16-year-old British actor, gained fame for portraying accused killer Jamie Miller within the Netflix series \u201cAdolescence.\u201d He made history in 2025 by becoming the youngest male actor to receive a Primetime Emmy Award at just 15, winning the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series category.<\/p>\n

Holland said he would like to be involved within the franchise\u2019s next stages as a mentor. \u201cIn the way in which that Robert Downey was such a mentor for me in my first three movies, I’d like to be that person for whoever is next,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

Tom Holland is likely to be the largest reason Spider-Man is prospering straight away.<\/p>\n

Back in 2019, when Disney and Sony split over Spider-Man, Tom reportedly helped push either side back to the table and got Spidey back into the MCU.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere within the interview, Holland said he was \u201con the fence\u201d about returning to his Spider-Man role, adding that the contract he signed at 18 years old expired after the third movie, \u201cSpider-Man: No Way Home,\u201d released in 2021.<\/p>\n

In actual fact, in an interview that 12 months, the actor famously said, \u201cIf I\u2019m playing Spider-Man after I\u2019m 30, I\u2019ve done something unsuitable.\u201d He\u2019s now looking back at his statement, saying it was \u201creally silly.\u201d He modified his tune after his thirtieth birthday. In early June, he told GQ<\/a><\/em>, \u201cI believe the purpose of it’s that I’d like to pass the baton on, and I haven\u2019t achieved that yet\u2026 So perhaps I would like to vary the quote to 37.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSpider-Man: Brand Latest Day\u201d director Destin Daniel Cretton spoke about Holland, saying that while some actors turn into \u201cjaded\u201d with the filmmaking process after playing a personality several times, \u201cTom is the alternative.\u201d Cretton added that they’d lots of fun filming that it \u201calmost seems criminal.\u201d<\/p>\n

In keeping with the actor, he was more involved within the making of the fourth movie, including the pre- and post-production stages.<\/p>\n

Holland shared that he spent hours scouring the web, watching videos, and listening to podcasts to learn what the fans desired to see in the subsequent installment. As an example, Spider-Man\u2019s latest suit was redesigned to bear in mind viewers\u2019 thoughts from past Spider-Man movies.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he was in a position to pitch his ideas. As he told Empire<\/a>,<\/em> he was given the prospect to share his thoughts with the writers. He went with what he called \u201cSpider-Puberty,\u201d raising the query, \u201cWhat happens if Peter Parker is losing control and things are changing?\u201d<\/p>\n

Holland said the studio didn\u2019t like his \u201cSpider-Puberty\u201d tagline, but was intrigued with the thought, which later evolved into the plot of \u201cBrand Latest Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Actor Delayed The \u2018Spider-Man\u2019 Filming<\/h2>\n

The unique filming schedule of \u201cSpider-Man: Brand Latest Day\u201d coincided with Holland\u2019s other film, \u201cThe Odyssey,\u201d directed by Christopher Nolan. The actor said he had an \u201cuncomfortable conversation\u201d with Sony after asking them to delay filming so he could work with the legendary director. The studio agreed, but Holland said, \u201cAnother director, it may need been a rather different conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of it worked out in the long run, because the Spider-Man franchise had beyond regular time to develop and improve the script. The actor believes the fourth installment is the \u201cbest version\u201d yet, adding, \u201cWhile it was a troublesome pill to swallow for Sony, I believe in hindsight, they\u2019re very grateful that it happened.\u201d<\/p>\n
