DAZN commentator believes the June 27 title fight will determine whether Ennis belongs amongst boxing\u2019s pound-for-pound elite<\/strong><\/p>\n

Todd Grisham believes Jaron \u201cBoots\u201d Ennis faces an important fight of his profession when he challenges Xander Zayas on June 27. The DAZN commentator said Ennis must dominate the unified champion to prove he belongs in the identical conversation as Terence Crawford.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs great as Boots Ennis is, I still don\u2019t think he\u2019s getting the respect from quite a lot of hardcore boxing fans,\u201d said Grisham to DAZN Boxing. \u201cThis looks like the moment for Boots. Not only do I feel he has to win this fight, I feel he must dominate and separate himself from Xander Zayas and say, \u2018Look, this guy\u2019s not even on my level. I\u2019m on the Terence Crawford level. That\u2019s the extent of fighter I’m.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Ennis, 35-0, captured two welterweight titles before deciding to pursue larger opportunities at 154 kilos. He revealed through the documentary that he specifically requested the Zayas fight after negotiations for a bout with Vergil Ortiz Jr. did not materialize.<\/p>\n

The fight for Zayas represents the most important challenge of his profession. The Puerto Rican star has repeatedly stated that facing elite opposition is vital to realize greatness, and he pushed for the matchup despite entering because the underdog in lots of observers\u2019 eyes.<\/p>\n

Grisham believes the stakes are particularly high for \u2018Boots\u2019 because expectations have followed him throughout his rise through the ranks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel he\u2019s a pound-for-pound primary within the waiting,\u201d Grisham said. \u201cBut to do this, you would like fights like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The winner of the June 27 clash will leave Barclays Center as one in all boxing\u2019s premier names at junior middleweight and with a powerful argument for a spot near the highest of the pound-for-pound rankings.<\/p>\n
