One person died after two freight trains collided on a bridge in Munich, Germany, within the early hours today.<\/p>\n

Two cars of 1 train fell about five metres from a bridge on Schlei\u00dfheimer Stra\u00dfe in Milbertshofen at about 1.40am.<\/p>\n

The trains were shunting on the time of the collision, a railway term for when trains are rearranged inside a railway station or depot.<\/p>\n

A firefighter told German news agency dpa<\/a>: \u2018That two trains collided and fell off a bridge \u2013 unbelievable.\u2019<\/p>\n

Photographs show the 2 wagons dangling off the bridge in a \u2018V\u2019 shape between Frankfurter Ring and Max-Diamand-Stra\u00dfe.<\/p>\n

German railway company Deutsche Bahn said that the train carriages that toppled were empty. <\/p>\n

The reason behind the train collision is unclear. <\/p>\n

Officials haven’t said what cargo the trains were carrying but confirmed that it was not hazardous.<\/p>\n

The incident has not impacted regional or long-distance train services.<\/p>\n

Police shared a video this afternoon showing that the trains are being salvaged using cranes. <\/p>\n

<\/figure>\n

Schlei\u00dfheimer Stra\u00dfe might be closed in each directions between Moosacher Stra\u00dfe and Max-Diamand-Stra\u00dfe until the recovery is complete.<\/p>\n

Police said recovery work \u2018will proceed well into Saturday, even perhaps into Sunday\u2019.<\/p>\n

The force added: \u2018We are going to notify you as soon because the road reopens.\u2019<\/p>\n
