Olympian David Hearn<\/strong> was arrested for allegedly touching the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool amid President Donald Trump<\/strong>\u2019s allegations that vandalism occurred on the monument.<\/p>\n

The canoeist, 67, told the Washington Post<\/em><\/a> on Saturday, June 20, that he was taken into custody on suspicion of misdemeanor destruction of presidency property yesterday and detained for five hours before eventually being released. Hearn has been ordered to reply the charge in a Washington D.C. Superior Court on July 9.<\/p>\n

Per Hearn, he wrapped up a 52-mile bike ride by stopping by the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which has undergone a controversial $14 million renovation project to color the underside of the pool \u201cAmerican flag blue.\u201d The athlete said he noticed a piece of detached liner and reached contained in the water to see what the piece felt like.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t destroy or break or peel anything,\u201d he told the Post<\/em>. \u201cBy the point I spotted what was occurring, I used to be being put in handcuffs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPresident Donald Trump is striking back at a judge\u2019s ruling to remove his name from the Kennedy Center, claiming discrimination from the democratic party. \u201cShockingly, a Judge appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, Christopher Cooper, ruled that The Kennedy Center, which was going to shut in early July for large-scale renovations and construction because of years [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Conservative Emily Miller<\/strong> shared footage of Hearn\u2019s arrest<\/a>, though she claimed that he\u2019d \u201cgrabbed the hose that female National Park Service employees were using to clear the algae.\u201d Hearn denied those accusations, though he acknowledged that his bicycle could have touched the hose.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> has reached out to the U.S. Park Police for comment.<\/p>\n

This incident occurred hours before Trump, 80, claimed via TruthSocial that vandals were answerable for deterioration of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.<\/p>\n

He went on, \u201cNonetheless, we\u2019ve had some real problems with Vandalism at the gorgeous Reflecting Pool, which sits between The Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial. Identical to three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they\u2019ve also done every part possible to harm the within surface that was just installed.\u201d<\/p>\n
