No less than ten people were injured after severe lightning bolts wreaked havoc at a handball competition in Germany.<\/p>\n

Eight adults and a 13-year-old child were amongst those hurt as 120 teams gathered in Rastatt, Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

One person was severely hurt within the storm, while others sustained minor injuries.<\/p>\n

The freak weather event struck as people tried to secure tents which were in peril of blowing away on the sports ground, which was getting used as a campsite.<\/p>\n

A 71-year-old woman was also injured in a lightning strike at a sports ground in M\u00fcnsingen-Dottingen.<\/p>\n

The woman was preparing food in a marquee when the storm suddenly hit. She was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering an electrical shock.<\/p>\n

The acute weather saw large parts of the town left without power on Friday for as much as 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

Cem \u00d6zdemir, minister-president of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg said 1000’s of individuals had been \u2018severely impacted\u2019 by the storm, with hospitals and businesses disrupted.<\/p>\n

He wrote on X: \u2018Our solidarity goes out to all those affected. All competent authorities are working at full throttle to revive supplies as quickly as possible and to maintain the results for the population, healthcare system, and economy as minimal as possible.\u2019<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, despite the outage, the facility substation remained undamaged, in accordance with Euronews<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Further storms were as a consequence of hit the world on Saturday, with the state more likely to exceed its temperature record for June, the German Weather Service (DWD) said.<\/p>\n

Other regions are also expected to experience intense heat, including Bavaria, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland in addition to parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Berlin and Brandenburg.<\/p>\n

Images showed heavy rain across the German capital, with cars shown stuck within the Gleim Tunnel between the neighborhoods of Wedding and Prenzlauer Berg.<\/p>\n
