The post got here only hours after Haney disclosed that Davis\u2019 team had reached out a couple of possible fight.<\/p>\n

Earlier within the day, Haney revealed that Tank Davis\u2019 team had made contact a couple of potential fight. Haney wrote on social media that Tank had \u201cgrown some balls\u201d and suggested the long-discussed matchup could finally occur.<\/p>\n

That development could leave Shakur in a difficult position if Haney chooses to pursue the larger payday against Gervonta.<\/p>\n

Many fans interpreted Stevenson\u2019s post as an try and ward off against the growing belief that he was accountable for slowing negotiations with Haney. The criticism intensified after Haney publicly proposed a 144-pound catchweight, and Stevenson initially appeared receptive before the fight did not materialize.<\/p>\n

The response to Shakur\u2019s latest post was overwhelmingly negative. Quite a few fans accused him of avoiding Haney, while others argued that he had already missed multiple opportunities to make the fight.<\/p>\n

If Haney moves on to Tank, Stevenson could possibly be forced to look elsewhere for a marquee fight at 140 kilos. While there are many dangerous opponents available, few offer the financial upside or mainstream attention that comes with a Haney bout.<\/p>\n

Fighters corresponding to Ernesto Mercado, Andy Hiraoka, Oscar Duarte, Subriel Matias, and Richardson Hitchins remain viable options, but each would represent a dangerous fight without the huge purse attached to a showdown against Haney.<\/p>\n

Shakur\u2019s post didn’t address any of the problems which have surrounded negotiations. He didn’t mention weight, money, or timing. As an alternative, he focused solely on rejecting the accusation that he was afraid to face Haney.<\/p>\n

Whether fans accept that explanation is one other matter. With Haney now openly discussing the potential for a fight against Davis, Shakur could also be watching his biggest available payday drift toward one other opponent.<\/p>\n
