Conor Benn\u2019s manager, Keith Connolly, says Benn has already signed for a proposed September showdown with Ryan Garcia and believes an official announcement may very well be getting closer.<\/p>\n

The fight has been the topic of ongoing speculation for weeks, with reports linking the pair to a September 12 clash. While questions remain about broadcast arrangements and promotional issues, Connolly indicated that progress has been made behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve signed on our side. I feel Ryan\u2019s accepted it, too. I feel they\u2019re figuring out some issues with the networks. I don\u2019t actually need to discuss that. That\u2019s a distinct area. I even have my guy signed for the fight and able to go, and I feel we\u2019ll hear some positive news in the subsequent couple of weeks,\u201d said Connolly to Ring Magazine.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The comments come amid continued uncertainty surrounding the event. Golden Boy Promotions previously raised objections regarding Ryan\u2019s involvement in a fight outside its promotional structure, while questions have also surrounded the printed platform.<\/p>\n

When pressed on whether a television deal had been finalized, Connolly declined to debate the matter, repeating that his focus is on Benn being ready for the fight.<\/p>\n

Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) last fought on April 11, defeating Regis Prograis by unanimous decision over 10 rounds at a Zuffa event in London. Ryan was last in motion on February 21, when he defeated WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.<\/p>\n

While questions remain concerning the event\u2019s broadcast arrangements, Connolly\u2019s comments indicate that each fighters have moved significantly closer to finalizing the bout. An announcement could follow if the remaining issues are resolved in the approaching weeks.<\/p>\n
