Jane Gaudreau<\/strong>, mother of late hockey stars Johnny<\/strong> and Matthew Gaudreau<\/strong>, reflected on the bittersweet circumstances of daughter Katie<\/strong>\u2019s pregnancy before she gave birth to her first child.<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cThey were just such big fans of youngsters,\u201d Jane exclusively told Us Weekly<\/i> about her sons in April. \u201cSometimes I take into consideration that and it\u2019s very heartbreaking that they didn\u2019t get a probability to be with their children, and even their nieces or nephews.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
Katie and her husband, Devin Joyce<\/strong>, announced the arrival of their son, Matthew<\/strong>, on Tuesday, June 23, three days after he was born on Saturday, June 20.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, died in August 2024 after they were struck by an alleged drunk driver while riding bicycles the night before Katie was imagined to get married. Katie and Joyce rescheduled their wedding for July 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
Johnny\u2019s widow, Meredith<\/strong>, gave birth to the couple\u2019s son, Carter<\/strong>, in April 2025, roughly seven months after Johnny\u2019s death. The couple also share daughter Noa<\/strong>, 3, and son Johnny Jr.<\/strong>, 2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
Matthew\u2019s widow, Madeline<\/strong>, gave birth to the couple\u2019s first son, Tripp<\/strong>, in December 2025, roughly 4 months after Matthew\u2019s death.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Before she gave birth herself, Katie candidly expressed that her pregnancy hadn\u2019t been a cakewalk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a journey,\u201d Katie told Us in April. \u201cYour first pregnancy is crazy. My mom had it quite a bit higher. She loved being pregnant. I\u2019m taking it day-by-day. We\u2019re just different generations. She had different toughness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
Still, Katie called her pregnancy \u2014 which she revealed in February \u2014 a \u201cgift\u201d after the death of her brothers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jane and her husband, Guy<\/strong>, also share an older daughter, Kristen<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
\u201cIf I can raise my family, and I do know Devin agrees, half the way in which that my parents raised us, I\u2019d be glad with it,\u201d Katie said. \u201cI just love how close we were growing up. You never went to bed mad at anybody.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
She continued, \u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for the sacrifices that they made so [Johnny and Matthew] could go to Boston College, in order that I could open a dance studio.
