There\u2019s a dispute over how Conor McGregor\u2019s comeback fight got here together.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Charles Oliveira claims Conor McGregor \u2018picked\u2019 Max Holloway over him<\/h2>\n

Given McGregor\u2019s stardom, it was no surprise to see a lot of fighters throw their names into the hat to welcome him back to motion following a five-year layoff.<\/p>\n

Fans were shocked when Michael Chandler was not chosen to fight McGregor after they coached against one another on The Ultimate Fighter<\/em> in 2024 and had a scheduled fight fall through on late notice.<\/p>\n

In keeping with \u2018The Notorious\u2019, every part to do with the opponent was decided by the UFC.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey (the UFC) picked that,\u201d McGregor said on The Ariel Helwani Show<\/a><\/em> when asked why Holloway was his opponent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had the date, they picked (the opponent). It just became Max. They didn\u2019t like the best way the form of the opposite belt (the BMF title) went.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d he added when asked if Charles Oliveira was ever discussed.<\/p>\n

The reigning BMF champion, nevertheless, disputes those remarks.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview with Motion Network, Oliveira claimed he was meant to face McGregor however the Irishman hand-picked Holloway as a substitute.<\/p>\n
