House of the Dragon Season 3 begins with one among the most important battles within the series to this point, raising the stakes within the civil war between Team Black and Team Green. As dragons proceed to shape the conflict, several legendary beasts have modified riders, while others have fallen in battle. The brand new season also opens with heartbreaking deaths that might change the course of the Dance of the Dragons eternally.<\/p>\n

House Of The Dragon Dragon Family Tree: Every Dragon & Rider<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Team Black Dragons<\/strong><\/h4>\n

1. Syrax \u2013 Rider: Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Syrax is Rhaenyra\u2019s loyal yellow she-dragon and one of the crucial recognizable dragons within the series. She has carried Rhaenyra since her youth and stays her primary mount throughout the war. Although she has not seen as much combat as a number of the other dragons, Syrax continues to symbolize Rhaenyra\u2019s claim to the Iron Throne.<\/p>\n

2. Caraxes \u2013 Rider: Prince Daemon Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Nicknamed the Blood Wyrm, Caraxes is one among the fiercest dragons alive. His long, lean body and aggressive nature make him one among Westeros\u2019 deadliest dragons. Together, Daemon and Caraxes have fought within the Stepstones campaign and remain amongst Team Black\u2019s strongest assets.<\/p>\n

3. Vermax \u2013 Rider: Prince Jacaerys Velaryon<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Vermax was Jace\u2019s trusted dragon and played a vital role in helping him travel across Westeros to assemble support for Rhaenyra. In Season 3, Vermax joins the Battle of the Gullet but is struck by multiple harpoons before crashing into the ocean. The dragon dies through the battle, alongside his rider.<\/p>\n

4. Moondancer \u2013 Rider: Lady Baela Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Although smaller than many dragons, Moondancer is exceptionally fast and agile. Baela rides the dragon into the Battle of the Gullet, where the pair fight alongside Team Black against the Triarchy fleet.<\/p>\n

5. Seasmoke \u2013 Rider: Addam of Hull<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Originally bonded with Laenor Velaryon, Seasmoke remained riderless after Laenor\u2019s disappearance. The dragon later selected Addam of Hull as its recent rider, making Addam one among Rhaenyra\u2019s newest dragonriders.<\/p>\n

6. Vermithor \u2013 Rider: Hugh<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Often called the Bronze Fury, Vermithor was once ridden by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and is one among the most important dragons still alive after Vhagar. Throughout the Red Sowing, Hugh successfully claims the large dragon, giving Team Black one other powerful weapon.<\/p>\n

7. Silverwing \u2013 Rider: Ulf<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Silverwing, once Queen Alysanne\u2019s dragon, also finds a brand new rider through the Red Sowing. She accepts Ulf, whose Targaryen blood allows him to bond with the traditional she-dragon despite his questionable popularity.<\/p>\n

8. Sheepstealer \u2013 Rider: Rhaena Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Certainly one of Westeros\u2019 wild dragons, Sheepstealer, lives independently and feeds mainly on sheep. Within the series, Rhaena appears to tame the dragon, replacing the storyline from George R.R. Martin\u2019s Fire & Blood, where the dragon is claimed by Nettles.<\/p>\n

9. Tyraxes \u2013 Rider: Prince Joffrey Velaryon<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Tyraxes continues to be a young dragon and has not yet participated in major battles. The dragon stays bonded with Joffrey Velaryon.<\/p>\n

10. Stormcloud \u2013 Rider: Prince Aegon the Younger<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Stormcloud can also be very young and stays away from the essential fighting while protecting Rhaenyra\u2019s younger children.<\/p>\n

Team Green Dragons<\/strong><\/h4>\n

1. Vhagar \u2013 Rider: Prince Aemond Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Vhagar is the oldest, largest, and strongest living dragon in Westeros. Once ridden by Queen Visenya during Aegon\u2019s Conquest, the legendary dragon is now bonded with Prince Aemond. Vhagar has already killed Lucerys and Arrax, defeated Princess Rhaenys and Meleys at Rook\u2019s Rest, and continues to be Team Green\u2019s best military advantage.<\/p>\n

2. Sunfyre \u2013 Rider: King Aegon II Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Sunfyre is known for his good golden scales and is commonly described as probably the most beautiful dragon alive. Throughout the Battle of Rook\u2019s Rest, Sunfyre is badly injured after fighting Meleys and being caught in Vhagar\u2019s attack. Although still alive, the dragon stays severely wounded.<\/p>\n

3. Dreamfyre \u2013 Rider: Queen Helaena Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Dreamfyre is one among the oldest dragons in Westeros. Despite Aemond\u2019s urging Helaena to ride into battle, she refuses, selecting not to participate within the bloodshed. In consequence, Dreamfyre has remained largely absent from the war.<\/p>\n

4. Tessarion \u2013 Rider: Prince Daeron Targaryen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Often called the Blue Queen due to her striking blue scales and blue flames, Tessarion finally enters the story with Daeron Targaryen. The dragon\u2019s arrival gives Team Green one other major aerial weapon because the conflict expands.<\/p>\n

Wild Dagons Still Alive<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Several dragons remain without everlasting riders. Certainly one of them is the Cannibal, it’s the mysterious wild dragon believed to feed on other dragons. One other one still alive is Grey Ghost, a shy wild dragon known for feeding on fish and avoiding humans. Sheepstealer, now apparently bonded with Rhaena, was previously one among the three famous wild dragons of Dragonstone.<\/p>\n

Major Deaths in House of the Dragon Season 3<\/strong><\/h4>\n

  1. Prince Jacaerys Velaryon<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The most important death of the season to this point is Prince Jacaerys Velaryon. After suspecting Alicent\u2019s proposal is a trap, Jace argues against sending Rhaenyra into danger. As an alternative, he secretly locks his mother inside her chambers and flies into battle himself on Vermax alongside Baela and Moondancer.<\/p>\n

    The Battle of the Gullet quickly descends into chaos when Rhaena unexpectedly arrives riding the wild dragon Sheepstealer. Throughout the battle, Vermax is struck by harpoons and crashes into the ocean. Jace escapes the dragon but is fatally hit by multiple arrows, marking one of the crucial emotional deaths within the series. His death leaves Rhaenyra mourning a second son after Lucerys.<\/p>\n

    1. Admiral Sharako Lohar<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Sharako Lohar also dies through the Battle of the Gullet after pursuing Lord Corlys Velaryon. Driven by years of hatred toward Corlys moderately than loyalty to Team Green, Lohar finally confronts the Sea Snake. When Corlys falls into the water after his ship is destroyed, Alyn of Hull attacks Lohar, drowning her before stabbing her within the neck.<\/p>\n
