Dreger: \u201cWell, there\u2019s a few things that should be considered here. Should you\u2019re management, ownership of the Winnipeg Jets, because loads of effort and time was invested in attempting to appease Hellebuyck and move him along.<\/p>\n

I mean, the first targets appear to be the Buffalo Sabres, a ton of backwards and forwards between Jarmo Kekalainen and Kevin Cheveldayoff. But ultimately, it seems like the Buffalo Sabres pulled back because they didn\u2019t get comfortable with the package that the Jets commanded to maneuver a future Hall of Famer in Connor Hellebuyck.<\/p>\n

So, in fact, there\u2019s time here for teams to revisit the potential for trading Conor Hellebuyck. We\u2019re early into the offseason, but how about this theory? I mean, Cheveldayoff continues to have trade conversations with players, with defensemen, with forwards. Could it bolster their lineup to some extent where they return to Hellebuyck and say, \u2018All right, our roster is best. Does this modification your mind? Are you thinking about staying?\u2019<\/p>\n

Buffalo decided the value was too high. I believe the challenge now for loads of these trades is, it\u2019s not a first-round pick within the immediate draft which you can do anymore.
