Tori Spelling<\/strong> is reflecting on Shannen Doherty<\/strong>\u2019s death nearly two years after her passing \u2014 revealing why it affected her in another way than when she grieved the lack of her father, Aaron Spelling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had more of an emotional \u2026 outward response when Shan passed than my very own father,\u201d Tori, 53, said in the course of the Tuesday, June 30, episode of the \u201cWithin You With Michael Rosenbaum<\/a>\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

Tori\u2019s father, a Hollywood legend, died in June 2006 when he was 83. Doherty, who was Tori\u2019s costar on Beverly Hills, 90210<\/em> \u2014 which Aaron executive produced \u2014 was 53 when she died in July 2024 following a battle with breast cancer.<\/p>\n

When asked why she wasn\u2019t more emotional when her father died, Tori explained she was \u201cyounger\u201d on the time. \u201cI mean, it was 20 years ago,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe I had every feeling so repressed. I didn\u2019t know find out how to cope with my feelings that in my mind it was, like, you simply go on,\u201d Tori recalled of Aaron\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n

The Mystery Girls<\/em> alum noted that her dad \u201cwas every thing to me\u201d and he or she was a complete \u201cdaddy\u2019s girl,\u201d so she tried to not let the grief derail her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, he\u2019s still my hero and I take into consideration him each day in my life,\u201d Tori said of her Emmy-winning father.<\/p>\n

Tori added that when her Beverly Hills, 90210<\/em> castmate Luke Perry<\/strong> died in March 2019 at 52 following a stroke, she still wasn\u2019t able to be outwardly emotional.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to be still in my mode of go on, go on. I used to be like, inside, \u2018Just go, you gotta keep going,\u2019\u201d she recalled, adding that she placed on a \u201cstrong front\u201d when Perry passed.<\/p>\n

Tori revealed that \u201cit was only when Shan passed, I used to be like, \u2018Oh my gosh, I can\u2019t stop crying.\u2019 And that is so un-me.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Tori said she grew up \u201cconsidering crying was an indication of weakness,\u201d Doherty\u2019s death hit her like a ton of bricks.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was this thing \u2014 and possibly it\u2019s because we\u2019re getting older and also you start to consider your individual mortality and what\u2019s going to occur \u2014 and it\u2019s like, \u2018Wait, friends my age are passing and this could occur.\u2019 That was a tough one,\u201d the mother of 5 explained.<\/p>\n

Tori became friends with each Perry and Doherty on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210<\/em>, which ran from 1990 to 2000.<\/p>\n

The trio played highschool pals, Donna Martin, Dylan McKay and Brenda Walsh, respectively, alongside Jennie Garth<\/strong>, Jason Priestley<\/strong>, Ian Ziering<\/strong>, Brian Austin Green<\/strong> and Gabrielle Carteris<\/strong>, who portrayed Kelly Taylor, Brandon Walsh, Steve Sanders, David Silver and Andrea Zuckerman, on the series.<\/p>\n

In the course of the podcast, Tori recalled her friendships changing with the forged as they grew up and worked on separate projects. That was the case between her and Doherty, who was fired from the hit teen drama after season 4. (Doherty later worked with Tori\u2019s father again on Charmed<\/em> from 1998 to 2001.)<\/p>\n

\u201cShannen and I were best friends after which we weren\u2019t. Neither of us really knew why,\u201d Tori remembered.<\/p>\n
