\n\tModern producer Nils Hartmann has stepped down as executive vp of Sky Studios Italy, following a 23-year stint on the Comcast-owned pay-TV service during which he shepherded many Italian TV series that made their mark around the globe.<\/p>\n
\n\tIn his capability as director of original productions at Sky Italia, Nils Hartmann spearheaded the creation of shows which have taken Italian TV to the following level, including \u201cRomanzo Criminale\u201d (\u201cCrime Novel\u201d); the gritty \u201cGomorrah\u201d franchise, which is Italy\u2019s all-time top TV export; Paolo Sorrentino\u2019s outrageously fun \u201cThe Young Pope\u201d; Stefano Sollima\u2019s cocaine trafficking drama \u201cZeroZeroZero\u201d; finance-world thriller \u201cDevils,\u201d starring Patrick Dempsey and Alessandro Borghi; and the Joe Wright-directed drama series\u00a0\u201cMussolini: Son of the Century.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tProbably the most recent Sky Italia project greenlit under Hartmann\u2019s watch is the six-episode series \u201cGucci: Game Over,\u201d directed by Gabriele Muccino, which is currently shooting. It has been described by Hartmann as Italy\u2019s response to Ridley Scott\u2019s \u201cHouse of Gucci\u201d movie, which didn’t sit well with a big a part of Italy\u2019s film community that felt the film was full of negative Italian stereotypes and in addition lamented it didn’t feature any local talents in lead roles.<\/p>\n
\n\tEmanuele Marchesi, former head of development at Sky Studios Italia, will step into Hartmann\u2019s role effective Aug. 1. Marchesi will report back to Giuseppe De Bellis, who’s Sky Italia\u2019s EVP of sport, news and entertainment. Marchesi may even liaise closely with C\u00e9cile Frout-Coutaz, who leads Sky Studios on the group level.<\/p>\n
