The legal situation for former Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold<\/strong> continues to develop as things are looking tougher every day since his release. Because some favorable conditions of his release were based on his employment within the National Football League, the state has pushed for a reconsideration of those conditions with the intention to more securely confine him as proceedings go on.<\/p>\n <\/a>When Arnold was released on $1MM bond on Monday, Hillsborough County (FL) Judge Christopher Sabella set three conditions to his release. First, Arnold was prohibited from contacting any of the six co-defendants or any witnesses within the case. Second, he was required to give up his passport inside 48 hours of release. Lastly, he was \u201cordered confined to his residence in Tallahassee, Florida, except when he can be playing, training, and traveling with the Lions or making court-related appearances or legal appointments,\u201d per contributors with ESPN and the Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n The state had wanted Arnold to be held without bond, but Sabella informed the prosecutors that they were \u201cnot there yet\u201d of their responsibility to indicate a robust case for Arnold\u2019s guilt. With Arnold granted his released, they asked the court to \u201crequire Arnold to wear a GPS tracking device, but his attorneys argued that he wouldn’t give you the option to play football with such a tool.\u201d<\/p>\n With the Lions waiving of Arnold, the state attorney\u2019s office filed a request<\/a> to switch the case to once more request the GPS monitor, in line with Greg Auman of FOX Sports. A hearing to debate the proposed change to the conditions of his pre-trial release was scheduled<\/a> for 9:30am, the morning of July 6. Despite the cessation of Arnold\u2019s employment within the NFL, his attorney, Timothy Jansen, filed a request \u201cfor Arnold to give you the option to appear via Zoom video chat<\/a> for his hearing\u2026because he will likely be out of state.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear why Arnold is scheduled to be out of state. His only allowances for leaving his residence were Lions- or case-related reasons. There could also be unfinished business between Arnold and his former employer. We noted in our last update that the Lions\u2019 decision to release Arnold for \u201cpersonal conduct that adversely affected\u201d the team would give Detroit the chance to void his remaining guarantees and, potentially, recoup any prorated bonuses already paid.<\/p>\n
