A British tourist has been declared brain dead after falling from a hotel balcony in Athens.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old boy sustained critical injuries after falling head-first at around 5am this morning from the primary floor of the property within the suburb of Halandri, north of the Greek capital.<\/p>\n

He was taken to Erythros Stavros (Red Cross) Hospital, where doctors confirmed his condition was unrecoverable, ekathimerini<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

Hellenic Police at the moment are investigating the circumstances across the tragedy.<\/p>\n

Officers have arrested a 37-year-old kiosk employee for selling the teenager alcohol after he presented a fake driver\u2019s licence.<\/p>\n

A source on the scene told the Sun<\/a> that the teenager suffered multiple injuries, some internal, and had been placed on life support in an intensive care unit.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s touch and go and we’re all praying he’ll pull through,\u2019 they added.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, one other British visitor was taken to a hospital in Athens after falling on a mountain climbing expedition on the island of Lefkada.<\/p>\n

The 50-year-old woman was a part of a gaggle visiting the Nidri waterfalls when a rockfall left her in a critical condition with severe head injuries.<\/p>\n

She was initially taken to Lefkada\u2019s hospital before being transferred to an ICU at \u00a0KAT Hospital within the capital.<\/p>\n
