At 15 years and 99 days old, he became the youngest cricketer to play for India, breaking the long-standing record of Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at 16 years and 205 days.<\/p>\n

Vaibhav Suryavanshi received his first India call-up after an excellent IPL 2026 season with Rajasthan Royals, where he scored 776 runs to win the Orange Cap. In doing so, he became the youngest player to say the award, surpassing the previous record held by Sai Sudharsan.<\/p>\n
Despite his impressive form, the teenager didn’t get a game during India\u2019s two-match T20I series in Ireland, which the visitors lost 0-2. Whilst calls for his debut grew louder, the team management continued to back the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson.<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, after Samson recorded one other low rating in the primary T20I at Chester-le-Street, his fourth successive failure, India brought Sooryavanshi into the playing XI for the second match, with the wicketkeeper-batter making way. Despite the change, India suffered a four-wicket defeat as England took a 1-0 lead within the five-match T20I series.<\/p>\n
