MEXICO CITY \u2014 Jude Bellingham scored two goals 98 seconds apart, Harry Kane converted a penalty when England was right down to 10 men, and the Three Lions handed Mexico its first World Cup loss at Estadio Azteca, a wild 3-2 victory on Sunday night to achieve the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

England moves on to face Norway on Saturday in Miami Gardens, Florida, for a spot within the semifinals.<\/p>\n

Bellingham stunned the group of greater than 80,000 at a venue where Mexico was unbeaten in 10 World Cup matches, including three this yr, when he scored on a header within the thirty sixth minute and again within the thirty eighth on a pass from Kane.<\/p>\n

Juli\u00e1n Qui\u00f1ones scored for El Tri within the forty second minute, and the sport appeared to show in Mexico\u2019s favor when England\u2019s Jarell Quansah was sent off within the 54th for a dangerous foul on Jes\u00fas Gallardo.<\/p>\n

But England was awarded a penalty for a challenge by Mexico goalkeeper Ra\u00fal Rangel, and Kane converted for his sixth goal of this tournament and 14th of his World Cup profession, matching Gerd M\u00fcller of West Germany for fifth on the scoring list. Kane has six goals on this tournament, one behind Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbapp\u00e9 and Erling Haaland within the Golden Boot race.<\/p>\n

Kane then committed a foul that made him the primary player since not less than 1966 to attain and concede a penalty in a World Cup game. Ra\u00fal Jim\u00e9nez converted the kick with a stutter-step approach to maneuver El Tri inside 3-2.<\/p>\n

Mexico attacked relentlessly over the ultimate 21 minutes, plus 11 minutes of stoppage time, but goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and England\u2019s defenders held regular.<\/p>\n

Mexico has not reached the quarterfinals since hosting in 1986. Since then, it has lost within the round of 16 eight times, did not advance past the group stage in 2022 and was disqualified from the 1990 tournament.<\/p>\n
