Through much of the offseason, many have anticipated the Commanders acquiring Brandon Aiyuk<\/strong>. No trade is forthcoming in his case, though, and the much-maligned wideout appears to have strained his relationship with quarterback\u00a0Jayden Daniels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Aiyuk\u2019s past with Daniels \u2013 his former Arizona State teammate \u2013 has driven his desire to affix the Commanders. With it now increasingly appearing as if Washington is just not concerned with a deal in this example, other options could possibly be explored. Washington has the cap space to afford a veteran receiver, and one has been identified as a possible goal.<\/p>\n

SportsBoom\u2019s Jason La Canfora writes<\/a> quite a few executives and agents across the NFL consider DeAndre Hopkins <\/strong>\u201ccould be thrilled\u201d to play with Daniels and the Commanders in 2026. Hopkins is one in all several notable wideouts still in the marketplace ahead of coaching camp, and he’ll offer his next team with loads of experience in a depth offensive role.<\/p>\n

Following a one-year stint in Baltimore, Hopkins has adopted a patient approach to free agency. The 34-year-old will in fact aim to affix a contender on his next stop, although the character of the receiver market over the approaching weeks will likely be value watching closely. Because the likes of\u00a0Stefon Diggs, Keenan Allen\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Deebo Samuel <\/strong>find recent homes, Hopkins will presumably narrow his list of potential landing spots.<\/p>\n

Diggs has spoken about the potential of playing for the Commanders, making Washington one in all the logical landing spots for the Maryland native. As La Canfora notes, nonetheless, Hopkins brings with him fewer concerns from an off-field perspective than Diggs. That might play an element as teams contemplate short-term offers in each cases. Hopkins\u2019 market will likely be limited by his career-worst numbers from 2025 (22 catches, 320 yards, two touchdowns).<\/p>\n

Still, the Commanders could stand so as to add a complementary wideout to pair with Terry McLaurin\u00a0<\/strong>and third-round rookie Antonio Williams<\/strong>. Washington lined up a take care of free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas <\/strong>earlier today, however the team will still have loads of cap space to afford a veteran receiver signing. It can be interesting to see if Hopkins emerges as a goal for the Commanders this summer.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
