An animal charity has described one among the \u2018most distressing cases\u2019 it has ever seen after it was called to a badly burned dog.<\/p>\n

NSPCA inspectors are investigating the charred stays of a dog outside an estate in Ballymun, a suburb just outside Dublin.<\/p>\n

The NSPCA has appealed to the general public to assist solve what it described as one among the worst cases of animal cruelty their officers have encountered<\/p>\n

Inspectors \u2018did the whole lot possible\u2019 to discover the animal, including scanning for a microchip on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u2018Tragically, the stays were so badly damaged that identification was impossible. <\/p>\n

\u2018Inspectors also discovered what gave the impression to be a stick or pole lodged within the dog\u2019s body,\u2019 they said.<\/p>\n

They added: \u2018That is some of the distressing cases our Inspectors have encountered. No animal should ever suffer or be treated in this fashion.\u2019<\/p>\n

The NSPCA is appealing to anyone who can have seen or heard anything that would assist in its enquiries, \u2018regardless of how insignificant it could seem\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Your information could make all of the difference,\u2019 it said. Adding: \u2018All information will likely be treated within the strictest confidence.\u2019<\/p>\n

Asked by Metro <\/strong>about rumours spread by Turning Point UK the dog had been eaten, a Garda spokesperson said the force \u2018doesn’t comment on material posted online, which can’t be verified\u2019.<\/p>\n

The force are investigating the death.<\/p>\n

The NSPCA has been contacted for further comment.<\/p>\n
