Chan<\/strong>, Reporter<\/em><\/p>\n THE PHILIPPINES\u2019 end-June dollar reserves jumped to the very best level in three months, backed by the central bank\u2019s profits from its foreign investments and the foreign currency deposits it received from the National Government (NG), preliminary data showed.<\/p>\n Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) data released late on Tuesday showed the country\u2019s gross international reserves climbed 0.78% to $104.803 billion at end-June from $103.988 billion the prior month.<\/p>\n This was the very best tally because the $106.636 billion at end-March.<\/p>\n The rise was driven by the NG\u2019s net foreign currency deposits with the central bank and the BSP\u2019s net income from its international investments.<\/p>\n \u201cThese were partly offset, nevertheless, by the\u2026 downward valuation adjustments, primarily driven by changes in prices of the BSP\u2019s gold holdings and foreign currency-denominated reserve assets, and the NG\u2019s drawdowns on its foreign currency deposits with the BSP for external debt service,\u201d the central bank added.<\/p>\n The country\u2019s foreign reserves also dropped by 1.13% from $105.998 billion as of June 2025, marking the third straight month that the GIR level declined yr on yr.<\/p>\n Dollar reserves are the central bank\u2019s foreign assets held mostly as investments in foreign-issued securities, foreign exchange and monetary gold, amongst others.<\/p>\n These are supplemented by claims to the International Monetary Fund in the shape of reserve position within the fund and special drawing rights.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" REUTERS By Katherine K.
