Chip startup SambaNova Inc. today announced<\/a> that it has raised $1 billion in funding at a $11 billion valuation.<\/span><\/p>\n

General Atlantic led the Series F round with contributions from greater than a dozen others. Intel Capital, Vista Equity Partners and JPMorgan Chase & Co. were among the many participants. The investment follows a $350 million round in February.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SambaNova debuted its flagship product, an inference chip called the SN50, at the side of the February raise. The corporate says the accelerator can provide greater than 3 times as much throughput as Nvidia Corp.\u2019s B200 graphics card. The SN50\u2019s top speed, in turn, is described as being five times faster.<\/span><\/p>\n

Artificial intelligence models generate prompt responses through an iterative process. The SN50 comprises dozens of modules called tiles that every mix processing circuits with high-speed SRAM memory. In accordance with SambaNova, the SN50 includes an HBM memory pool that may store an AI model\u2019s lively model weights and KV cache. If an application must swap the AI model it uses to process prompts, the chip can load a neural network from DRAM to HBM in a number of milliseconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

SambaNova ships the SN50 as a part of a 16-chip appliance called the SambaRack SN50. The system uses about 20 watts of power, which suggests that it produces a comparatively limited amount of warmth.
