Cody Garbrandt wants more look after fighters after they’ve finished their careers within the UFC.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier this week, UFC legend Dustin Poirier opened up about his recent arrest which unfortunately went viral on social media.<\/p>\n

<\/figure>\n

\u2018The Diamond\u2019 admitted that since retiring from the game last 12 months, he has struggled along with his mental health and continues to hunt assist in dealing along with his issues.<\/p>\n

That, though, is something Cody Garbrandt believes the promotion should help with, calling for higher look after fighters once they’ve left the game behind.<\/p>\n

Garbrandt receives wake-up call following Poirier\u2019s recent issues<\/h2>\n

This coming Saturday at UFC 329, the previous bantamweight champion competes for the 18th time under the UFC banner when he takes on Adrian Yanez on the undercard.<\/p>\n

At 35 years old, Garbrandt is now nearing the top of his profession in combat sports, and despite having reached the head, Poirier\u2019s recent admission has him contemplating his future once he has hung up his gloves.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know the way a few years I actually have left in the game, but I pray that God lets me stay healthy, intact, and I can leave by myself terms,\u201d Garbrandt told MMA Junkie<\/a> in an interview ahead of his fight this weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u201dI feel a whole lot of fighters don\u2019t get that chance. They must fight because they need the cash. They must fight injured. It\u2019s tough. You see them walk away and the detriment that it does getting released back into the wild,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Ever since Poirier\u2019s retirement, he has repeatedly teased at a possible return, and even following his recent issues, he has claimed he’s open to a possible clash against Conor McGregor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just pray that a whole lot of these fighters stacked their money, get plans for after. I wish the UFC did a bit more in helping us out with that: healthcare, insurance, 401K. It\u2019s scary to depart something that\u2019s secure and also you\u2019ve chased your whole life, after which it\u2019s done and people paychecks don\u2019t are available in, those sponsorships don\u2019t are available in,\u201d Garbrandt added.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Diamond\u2019 stated that he lost one in all his biggest sponsors following his arrest for public intoxication.<\/p>\n
