Seahawks owner Jody Allen<\/strong> put the franchise up on the market on Feb. 18. First bids were due June 29, and within the time since then, two groups have turn out to be clear front-runners to purchase the Seahawks, sources told Ben Horney of Front Office Sports<\/a><\/p>\n

Wyc Grousbeck<\/strong>, former Boston Celtics owner and current alternative governor, and fellow Celtics alternate governor Aditya Mittal <\/strong>have teamed up in an effort to buy the Seahawks. They’re competing against 49ers minority investor Vinod Khosla<\/strong>. A minimum of one former Seahawks player is aligned with one in every of the groups, though neither his identity nor which side he’s involved with were disclosed, based on Horney.<\/p>\n

Todd Boehly<\/strong>, chairman of the Chelsea Football Club and a part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers, looked like a possible Seahawks buyer as of mid-June. He’s now out of the race, reports Horney, who adds that Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos<\/strong> has removed himself from the running. Other groups could still emerge on this process, a source told Horney. For now, though, it\u2019s the Grousbeck-Mittal duo versus Khosla.<\/p>\n

There’s a possibility the sale of the Seahawks will undergo before the regular season begins in September. At any time when it happens, they’ll turn out to be the primary NFL franchise to alter ownership since Josh Harris<\/strong> bought the Commanders for a record $6.05 billion in 2023. Not only are the Seahawks expected to go for greater than that, but they might cost upward of $10 billion.<\/p>\n
