Conor McGregor is being widely counted out in his comeback.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The previous lightweight and featherweight champion is headlining UFC 329, an event that closes out the 2026 edition of International Fight Week in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

<\/figure>\n

McGregor will fight Max Holloway in a rematch, 13 years after fighting through a serious knee injury to beat \u2018Blessed\u2019 via unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Given his lengthy layoff and Holloway\u2019s activity, not many expect McGregor to repeat that feat. If he does, though, the UFC president thinks it could go right to the highest of the Irishman\u2019s list of accolades.<\/p>\n

Dana White would rank Conor McGregor beating Max Holloway at UFC 329 top of his achievements<\/h2>\n

McGregor has won only a single fight since knocking out Eddie Alvarez to develop into the primary simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history a decade ago.<\/p>\n

After beating Donald Cerrone in 2020, the Irishman was KO\u2019d by Dustin Poirier in January the next yr. Six months later, McGregor broke his leg at UFC 264, starting a lengthy recovery period and Octagon hiatus.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, many expect Holloway to comfortably avenge his 2013 loss to \u2018The Notorious\u2019. <\/p>\n

During a recent interview with TNT Sports<\/a>, UFC president Dana White discussed what it could mean if McGregor proves his doubters flawed.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo doubt,\u201d White said when asked if a victory on Saturday can be McGregor\u2019s biggest achievement to this point.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a five-year layoff, no person\u2019s ever done it. No person\u2019s ever done it, come back and looked the identical.<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially, in numerous these other combat sports, when a man comes back after that big of a layoff, they take easy fights or what are perceived to be easy fights,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is anything but a simple fight. He’s stepping into there with a straight killer who has been fighting the perfect of the perfect your entire time Conor has been gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

McGregor says Holloway has not improved since they first shared the Octagon 13 years ago.<\/p>\n

He’ll soon have the possibility to prove that theory by adding a second win over the Hawaiian fan favorite to his skilled mixed martial arts record.<\/p>\n
