Johnston: \u201cYeah, it sets the clock right for those players. Those guys are literally not eligible because they filed for arbitration for offer sheets. So the Robertson situation, I believe, is essentially the most distinguished among the many players you mentioned.<\/p>\n

Protecting Yourself from Offer Sheet Retaliation<\/a><\/p>\n

You realize he\u2019s in an interesting spot. He\u2019s one 12 months from being a UFA, but still has a restricted free agent season to sign. If he and the Stars find yourself going through with that arbitration case, he\u2019ll effectively be walked to free agency. But he is also going to have a season here where he doesn\u2019t have any trade protection. Where the celebrities will give you the chance to proceed listing on trading him. You realize, there\u2019s still a world where they sign a long-term extension between now and and the date of that hearing, every time it\u2019s set, because that\u2019s that\u2019s type of a what what happens within the system.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So ultimately, Dallas goes to have type of a one final decision to make prior to that arbitration hearing, for my part. Within the sense of , do they get right into a contract range that he’ll sign, and do they only bite the bullet and do it? Or in the event that they undergo the arbitration case, , effectively, they\u2019re either playing him out to free agency next July, or they\u2019re probably going to look to trade him in some unspecified time in the future throughout the 12 months. So if he signs a big-money extension, even, , there\u2019s still a 12 months where the Stars could theoretically trade him too. So it\u2019s just it\u2019s type of he\u2019s he\u2019s like one in every of these players. He\u2019s caught between all these. these forces. Obviously, he\u2019s a, , one in every of the highest scorers within the league the last variety of years.
